
The VC women's tennis team had four players named to the All-Western State Conference team following the 2023 regular season. Nell Elaerts, Alexis Schmidt and Elizabeth Nguyen earned the honors in both singles and doubles while Talia Lieb earned an All-WSC nod in doubles play.
Lieb and Elaerts were awarded Honorable Mention All-WSC in No. 1 doubles. The pair was 6-5 in conference play in their top doubles slot. Meanwhile, Schmidt and Nguyen received Honorable Mention All-WSC accolades in No. 2 doubles. They went 5-2 in the conference in the second doubles match.
In singles, Elaerts earned an Honorable Mention All-WSC nod in the No. 2 slot, posting a 7-4 mark. Schmidt, who primarily played No. 3 singles for the Pirates, also was named Honorable Mention All-WSC with a 6-4 record along with a 1-0 mark playing No. 2 singles. Additionally, Nguyen capped a solid career in the orange and black with an Honorable Mention All-WSC award for her play at No. 5 singles. She ended the year with a 5-1 mark in WSC play in addition to a victory at No. 4 singles.
The Pirates were 6-6 in conference play in 2023, qualifying for the Southern California Regional Playoffs for the first time since 2012.
