The VC women's tennis team has qualified for the Southern California Regional Playoffs which begin Tuesday April 11. Ventura (6-7) is he No. 7 seed in the draw and will travel to No. 1 Orange Coast in Costa Mesa Tuesday. This will be the Pirates' first playoff appearance since the 2012 season.
Ventura enters the match after a season in which they finished fourth in the Western State Conference with a 6-6 record. VC's No. 1 doubles team of Talia Lieb and Nell Elaerts were finalists in the WSC doubles tournament and qualified for the state championships a The Ojai later this month. VC's No. 2 doubles pair of Alexis Schmidt and Elizabeth Nguyen also qualified for state while Lieb and Elaerts will compete in The Ojai in singles.
VC and the Pirates of Orange Coast played earlier this season with OCC coming out on top 7-2. The Pirates of the South are 18-0 on the year and champions of the Orange Empire Conference. They hold the region's No. 1 seed.
Doubles play is scheduled to begin in Costa Mesa at 2:00 pm on Tuesday April 11.
