
Playing without three of their regular players, the VC women's tennis team fell to visiting Grossmont College 7-2 Saturday at the VC Tennis Center. Alyssa Powell was leading in her No. 2 singles match 2-1 when her opponent was unable to finish due to a knee injury. Then, in doubles, Powell and Lea Meschke won in the No. 1 slot, 8-0 for the second point for VC (6-4, 4-2).
Tricia McClain dropped a narrow decision in No. 4 singles, 7-5, 6-7, 7-5, while Meschke went the distance in the No. 1 singles match before falling in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Ventura resumes Western State Conference play on Tuesday Feb. 27 hosting Bakersfield. Matches are set to begin at 2:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.
