
No. 3 seed Yannick Garcia and No. 10 seed Bailey Sindle both advanced to the quarterfinals of the Western State Conference Women's Singles Championships on Friday, and teamed up as the No. 3 seed in doubles to reach the round of eight, as well.
Garcia, received a first round bye before winning a pair of matches to make the round of eight, earning an automatic spot in the state championships to be held later this month at The Ojai Tournament. Sindle, the No. 10 seed, won her first match then upset the No. 7 seed to qualify for state.
Meanwhile in doubles, the duo went to the round of 16 on a bye before winning their next match 8-0.
In singles, Jia Wiebe won her first match before a loss sent her to the back draw, needing one more victory to qualify for the Ojai. Meanwhile, Chelsea Peterson, Candace Nito, Cristina Ortiz and Jessica Powell all won in the round of 64 before falling in their next match.
In doubles, Wiebe and Katy Scheck, Nito and Ortiz, and Powell and Peteron are all in the back draw, looking for one more victory on Saturday April 4 to qualify for state.
Singles quarterfinals and semifinals, as well as back draw matches will be held at the VC Tennis Center on Saturday April 4 before the draw finished up on Friday April 10. In doubles, the round of eight and back draw matches will be held Saturday before the tournament plays out on April 10.
