
The Pirates' women's tennis team opened their 2015 schedule with a 7-2 win at San Diego Mesa College Thursday afternoon. Sophomore Yannick Garcia dropped just one game in No. 1 singles and teamed up with Katy Scheck to dominate No. 1 doubles to lead VC (1-0).
Chelsea Peterson also earned two points with wins at No. 6 singles and with Cristina Ortiz at No. 3 doubles. Jia Wiebe won in No. 2 singles while Bailey Sindle and Candace Nito won in Nos. 4 and 6 singles, respectively.
VC returns to the court at home on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13 and 14 in Ventura's North South Challenge.
