Swimmer Adrianna Bese saved her best for last. The freshman from Nordhoff High School set a new school record in the 200-yard breast stroke in the finals of the event Saturday evening at the CCCAA State Championships in Cupertino. She touched in 2:29.91 to place eighth in the event, establishing the new VC standard. Additionally, she also placed seventh in the 100-yard breast stroke on Friday in a time of 1:08.40, nearly a second faster than her qualifying time from the morning session. Single-handedly she placed the VC team higher than half of the competing teams at the championships. For her efforts, Adrianna has been named this week's VC Pirate Student Athlete of the Week, proudly sponsored by Snapper Jack's Taco Shack.
