The Ventura College baseball team opened up the 2016 season this week, and shortstop Brison Cronenbold opened up on fire. The sophomore from Thousand Oaks High School batted .750 in three games, hitting 6-8 with a triple and a pair of walks. He scored four runs for the Pirates in three games. Brison was 4-5 in Saturday's home opening-victory over Compton with three runs scored. Cronenbold has already committed to transfer to the University of Nebraska of the Big 10 Conference, and is this week's VC Pirate Student Athlete of the Week.
