In the process of winning the program's 300th victory, the Pirates' women's soccer team lost its leading scorer to injury. Sophomore captain AJ Tewes has been a steady influence before and after that contest, providing the winning goal Friday, a header off a corner kick in the first half, leading VC to a 2-0 victory over Allan Hancock, breaking a two-game losing streak, and helping notch the program's 200th Western State Conference victory. Tewes graduated from Buena High School and is this week's VC Pirate Student Athlete of the Week sponsored by Pacific Aire Heating and Cooling.
