Treloar-Ballard Named All-American, Two Others All-RegionJanuary 22, 2017Women's Water Polo sophomore Paige Treloar-Ballard earned first-team All-American honors for the 2016 season in voting by Southern California coaches released last month. Two other VC sophomores, Lauren Wiksell and Maeve Flynn were named second team All-SoCal for their efforts in helping the Pirates to a runner-up finish in the Western State Conference and the highest win total in the 17-year tenure of head coach Mary Giles.

Four Pirates First Team All-WSC in Women's PoloDecember 07, 2016In a record setting season for the VC women's water polo team, Paige Treloar-Ballard, Lauren Wiksell, Maeve Flynn and Ylva Ostlin were named first-team All-Western State Conference by a vote of the conference coaches last month. Two more earned second-team nods, and three were named honorable mention for the Pirates, who posted the moste wins in the 17-year tenure of head coach Mary Giles.

Pirates Close Season With Solid Effort Against No. 2 FullertonNovember 11, 2016One of the most successful women's water polo seasons n school history cam to a close Friday as the Pirates dropepd a 15-10 decision to No. 2-seed Fullerton in the Sol Cal Regional Quarterfinals in Huntington Beach. Maeve Flynn had four goals to lead the Pirates (24-9) and Paige Treloar-Ballard netted three scores with two steals.

Women's Water Polo Advances in SoCal PlayoffsNovember 10, 2016Lauren Wiskell netted five goals as the Ventura College women's water polo team claimed their Southern California regional Playoff opener 10-7 over Cerritos Thursday in Huntington Beach. The program's single-season assist record holder led the Pirates (24-8) by finishing plays and Maeve Flynn scored three times to help VC adavnce to the SoCal quarterfinals.

VC Women's Water Polo Headed to the Post SeasonNovember 07, 2016Continuing one of the best seasons in program history, the Pirates' women's water polo team has received the No. 7 seed in the Southern California regional Playoffs which begin Thursday Nov. 10 at Golden West College in Huntington Beach. VC (23-8), which has set a new high water mark for victories in the 17-year tenure of head coach Mary Giles, will take on No. 10 Cerritos (16-10) at 11:30 am. The winner of that game will face No. 2 Fullerton (21-8) on Friday at 11:30 am.

Women's Polo Falls in WSC Championship, Awaits Regional DrawNovember 05, 2016Despite a valiant effort, the Pirates' women's water polo team could not get over the hump against Santa Barbara Saturday, falling 15-8 in the Western State Conference Tournament championship game. Paige Treloar-Ballard scored five goals with an assist, two steals and five drawn exclusions to lead VC (23-8, 8-2). The appearance in the WSC final was the team's 12th in the past 15 years.

WPolo Advances to WSC Tournament ChampionshipNovember 03, 2016The Ventura College Women's Water Polo team has advanced to the Western State Conference Tournament championship with a pair of wins Thursday in San Luis Obispo. VC, the No. 2 seed in the draw, downed No. 7 Los Angeles Pierce 19-5 in the morning quarterfinal before defeating No. 3 Allan Hancock in the afternoon semifinal 20-7. Lauren Wiksell and Maeve Flynn each netted seven goals on the day to lead the Pirates (23-7, 8-1).

Women's Polo Clinches No. 2 Seed for WSC TournamentOctober 26, 2016Paige Treloar-Ballard had three goals and goalie Devon Compton recorded eight saves in the cage as the Pirates' women's water polo team wrapped up the No. 2 seed for next week's Western State Conference Tournament with a 10-4 victory at Cuesta College Wednesday. Ylva Ostlin had a pair of goals and Brittany Camp had three steals in the final regular season game for Ventura (21-7, 6-1).

Pirate Women Come Out of Battle at the Beach EvenOctober 22, 2016The VC women's water polo team finished the Battle at the Beach Tournament with an even 2-2 record after one win and one loss on Saturday in games at Cypress College. Ventura defeated Saddleback 12-11 on Saturday morning before falling to conference foe Citrus 10-7 in the afternoon. Lauren Wiksell netted eight goals in the two games while Paige Treloar-Ballard and Ylva Ostlin had four and three goals, respectively.

Pirates Split First Day of Battle at the BeachOctober 21, 2016The VC women's water polo team's 10 game winning streak was snapped in the opener of the Battle at the Beach Tournament Friday, but they rebounded to avenge an early season loss in the nightcap of the 24-team, three-site tournament. VC lost to San Joaquin Delta 15-7 in the first round before defeating Palomar 10-5 in the second game of the day, both at Cerritos College. Lauren Wiksell had seven goals, two assists, three drawn exclusions and three steals on the day for Ventura (19-6, 5-1).

Pirates Make It 10 Straight Against LA ValleyOctober 19, 2016The Pirates' women's water polo team used a 10-0 run over 10 minutes of game time beginning midway through the first quarter to propel them to a 15-9 victory over Los Angeles valley Wednesday afternoon at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Paige Treloar-Ballard netted five goals, all in the first half, to lead the way and Lauren Wiksell had three scores and four assists in the victory, VC's 10th straight triumph and their 14th win in the past 15 contests.

Women's Polo Stretches Win Streak to Nine in TourneyOctober 08, 2016The Pirates' women's water polo team concluded the Ventura Tournament with two more wins Saturday at the Ventura Aquatic Center, giving the team nine wins in a row. VC (17-5, 4-1) posted blow-out victories over El Camino, 15-5, and San Diego Miramar, 12-3. Paige Treloar-Ballard netted seven goals on the day with an assist and eight steals while Ylva Ostlin had five scores with four assists and three steals. Valeria Ramirez had 13 saves in goal for the Pirates.

Pirates Claim First Two Games of Ventura TournamentOctober 07, 2016The Pirates' women's water polo began and ended day one of the Ventura Tournament with a shutout and a final-minute game-winner, respectively. VC (15-5, 4-1) defeated Santa Monica 15-0 in a Western State Conference contest in the morning before besting Mt. San Antonio 11-10 in the nightcap with the game-winner coming with 26 seconds remaining in the game. Lauren Wiskell had six goals on the day, including the game winner against Mt. SAC, to go with three assists and two steals.

Pirates Open Weekend With Two VictoriesOctober 06, 2016Opening a stretch of six home games in three days, the VC women's water polo team defeated Citrsu and American Riover in play at the Ventura Aquatic Center Thursday. The Pirates (13-5, 3-1) scored two goals late to defeat Western State Conference for Citrus in the afternoon before routing visiting American River 17-12 under the lights. Lauren Wiksell was on fire with nine goals and eight assists on the day while goalie Valeria Ramirez recorded 18 saves in the cage in the two matches.

Trip Home From San Diego a Happy One for PiratesOctober 01, 2016The Pirates' women's water polo team made their trip back from San Diego a good one Saturday with a pair of wins to conclude the San Diego Tournament. Playing at Mesa College, VC (11-5, 2-1) ran away from Cypress 17-5 before besting Cerritos 15-9. Paige Treloar-Ballard had her best day of the season with 14 goals scored, five assists, a pair of drawn ejections and seven steals in the two matches.

Pirate Women Split Two Games at San Diego ClassicSeptember 30, 2016The Ventura College women's water polo team split its first two games at the San Diego Women's Water Polo Classic Friday in games at San Diego Mesa College. The Pirates fell to Palomar 14-11 in the ir first contest of the day before trouncing East Los Angeles 16-4 in the nightcap. Paige Treloar-Ballard scored seven goals on the day with seven steals in the two matches for Ventura (9-5, 2-1). Valeria Ramirez hauled in 11 saves in goal to lead the defense.

Strong Finish Seals Women's Water Polo WinSeptember 28, 2016Sophomore Paige Treloar-Ballard recorded eight goals to go along with two assists, two drawn ejections and a pair of steals to lead the Pirates' women's water polo team to a 16-8 victory at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria. Ylva Ostlin netted four scores with three assists in the triumph, VC's fourth consecutive victory.

Youth Beats Experience as Women's Water Polo Defeats AlumnaeSeptember 24, 2016The young won out Saturday as the Ventura College women's water polo team defeated the VC Alumnae 16-15 Saturday at the Ventura Aquatic Center. The current Pirates jumped out to an 8-0 lead 1:04 into the second quarter, and made it stand up, holding off the alums in the final period. Lauren Wiksell had an outstanding day with five goals, an assist and seven steals to lead Ventura (7-4, 1-1).

Pirate Polo Routs Pierce, 18-3September 21, 2016After scoring the first six goals of the game, and racing to a 9-1 first quarter advantage, the VC women's water polo team cruised to an 18-3 conference victory at Los Angeles Pierce Wednesday in Woodland Hills. Seven different Pirates scored two goals each, and 11 players scored overall in the rout.

Women's Polo Splits Final Day of Riverside TourneySeptember 17, 2016The Ventura College women's water polo team had an early wake-up call Saturday morning, playing host Riverside at their tournament at 7:45 am, falling to the 2015 state runner-up Tigers 15-8 before rebounding to win the tournament finale 19-5 over Chaffey. Lauren Wiksell and Ylva Ostlin each had seven goals on the day and Nicole Garcia produced eight saves in goal.

VC fell to Long Beach 12-10 in the opener before dropping a 7-6 decision to Cerritos. Slow Start Sends Pirates to First Defeat of SeasonSeptember 14, 2016In a match up of unbeaten teams, a slow first half sent the Ventura College women's water polo team to its first defeat of the season, 13-6 against visiting Santa Barbara at the Ventura Aquatic Center. The Pirates (4-1, 0-1) were down 9-0 before getting on the board in the final minute of the second quarter, and playing even from that point on. Paige Treloar-Ballard had a pair of scores to lead VC.

VC defeated Hancock 16-5 in the first contest of the day before posting a solid 14-9 victory over Diablo Valley in the second. Paige Treloar-Ballard had nine goals on the day with four drawn ejections while Lauren Wiksell scored eight times with six assists for Ventura (4-0).

Women's Polo Rolls In Season Opening TournamentSeptember 03, 2016The Pirates' women's water polo team opened the season with a pair of impressive victories at the Cypress Tournament Saturday. They defeated East Los Angeles 18-4 in the first match of the day before turning around to defeat the host Cypress Chargers 15-3 in the nightcap. Paige Treloar-Ballard had 10 goals on the day to lead VC with three assists and seven steals. Devon Compton turned back eight shots in goal in the two matches.
