In a record setting season for the VC women's water polo team, Paige Treloar-Ballard, Lauren Wiksell, Maeve Flynn and Ylva Ostlin were named first-team All-Western State Conference by a vote of the conference coaches last month. Two more earned second-team nods, and three were named honorable mention for the Pirates, who posted the most wins in the 17-year tenure of head coach Mary Giles.
Sophomore Treloar-Ballard ended her VC career as the program's all-time scoring leader. Wiksell, also a sophomore, is the program's all-time assist record-holder. A second-year player, Flynn was fourth on the team in scoring and third in assists while freshman Ostlin was third in scoring and fourth in assists.
Freshmen Kelsey Golden and Beth Arbon both earned second team All-WSC accolades. Meanwhile sophomores Kalyn Pina and Brittany Camp, and freshman Valeria Ramirez were named honorable mention all-conference.
The Pirates placed second in the WSC Tournament, playing for the conference title for the 12th time in the past 15 years. They qualified for the Southern California Regionals, advancing past the first round before falling in the State Sweet 16 round.
