
Traveling to Santa Barbara City College for a match up with second place Vaqueros, the Ventura College women's water polo team held the advantage heading into fourth quarter before eventually falling 9-7. Elizabeth Seacord scored three goals for the Pirates attack in the defeat while adding three steals and an assist.
In their final regular season Western State Conference game, the Pirates (15-11, 3-4) came out strong early, capturing a 3-1 lead after one quarter of play. Seacord, Paige Treloar-Ballard and Lauren Wiksell each scored in the first quarter. VC held on to a slim 4-3 margin at the half after Seacord put in another goal. With the Vaqueros and Pirates trading single goals in the third quarter, Ventura looked poised to take the game. Yet, the Vaqueros were able to score five goals in the fourth quarter to pick up the victory.
Treloar-Ballard picked up three drawn ejections, a steal and an assist to continue her strong season. Brittany Camp and Danielle Pfeifer each added an assist for Ventura. Anjali Paramanandam was strong in net facing a constant attack from the Vaqueros, she was able to turn away 13 shots in the game.
The Pirates remain in the hunt for the WSC title dsepite their No. 5 seed, as their four conference losses have come by a combined seven goals. Ventura will travel to Los Angeles Valley to begin the tournament on Thursday Nov. 5.
