The VC women's water polo team traveled to Glendora Wednesday, dropping a 14-5 decision to Citrus in Western State Conference play. Kayla Wallace had a pair of goals with a drawn exclusion and a steal to lead the Pirates (9-11, 0-3). Kelsey Golden scored one goal with an assist and one steal in the game.
Ventura fell behind early on, trailing 5-1 at the quarter break and 8-2 at halftime against the Owls.
Sabrina Cherfane and Katia Flores each scored a goal in the game while Haley Hall recorded eight saves in goal.
The Pirates will take a break in the schedule before resuming play at the Battle of the Beach Tournament in Long Beach Oct. 21 and 22.
