2013 Women's Water Polo Honored by CCCAA
February 17, 2015The California Community College Athletic Association has announced its academic awards for the 2013-14 year, and the Ventura College women's water polo team has been awarded the CCCAA State Scholar Team Award for the 2013 season. The 14 members of the team achieved a combined grade point average of 3.25 for the fall 2013 semester with an average of 14.7 units per student. -
Loya and McWaid First-Team All-WSC for WPolo
December 23, 2014Sophomores Cecily Loya and Brittany McWaid have been named first team All-Western State Conference. They are joined by five other teammates in post-season honors selected by the conference coaches at a meeting last month.

November 06, 2014After a convincing win in the quarterfinals, the Pirates' women's water polo team lost its quest for a conference championship in the Western State Conference semifinals Thursday afternoon at Citrus College. No. 3 seed Ventura (14-13) defeated No. 6 Pierce College 21-7 before falling 7-5 to No. 2 Santa Barbara.

October 31, 2014Sweeping two matches at the Pasadena Mini Tournament Friday, the Pirates' women's water polo team heads into next week's Western State Conference on a three-match winning streak. VC (13-12, 4-2) defeated host Pasadena 15-6 in the opener before besting East Los Angeles 13-4 in the second match of the day.

Women's Polo Gets Big Victory at Pierce
October 29, 2014They haven't been playing poorly, but the wins haven't come. The Ventura College women's water polo team turned that trend around with a commanding 17-5 win at Pierce College Wednesday to end a seven-match losing streak just in time for next week's Western State Conference Tournament.

VC Defense Strong, Offense Struggles at Battle at the Beach
October 25, 2014The Ventura College women's water polo team continued to play strong defensively, but struggled to score in a pair of tough losses to conclude the Battle at the Beach hosted by Long Beach City College Saturday. The Pirates (10-12, 3-2) fell to Palomar in the 8:00 am breakfast special 12-5 before dropping their third match of the year to Chaffey, 8-4 in the finale.

October 24, 2014It was anything but smooth sailing for the Pirates' women's water polo team Friday as the dropped a pair of matches at the Battle at the Beach hosted by Long Beach City College. VC (10-10, 3-2) fell to Riverside 20-8 in the opener before losing to Mt. San Antonio 15-9 in the nightcap.

October 15, 2014Playing without their starting and back-up goal keepers, the Ventura College women's water polo team dropped it's first Western State Conference match Wednesday, 13-8 at Cuesta College. Reginae Maturino, Christina Tellez and Danielle Pfeifer led the Pirates (10-7, 3-1) with two goals each.

October 11, 2014With a split in their final two matches, the Pirates' women's water polo team finished the Ventura Tournament with a 3-1 record on Saturday at the Ventura Aquatic Center. VC easily defeated Santa Monica 19-3 before falling in the finale to Cypress, 10-8.

October 10, 2014Using a little home cooking, the Ventura College women's water polo team posted two victories Friday to open the Ventrua Tournament at the Ventura Aquatic Center. VC (9-5, 3-0) had a strong first half in their 8-5 win over El Camino in the morning before defeating a strong Ventura All-Star team in the evening, 13-12.

September 27, 2014The Ventura College women's water polo team got a fight from the Pirate Alumnae, but were able to outlast the more experienced team 13-8 Saturday at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Brittany McWaid led Ventura (5-5) with four goals in the match.

VC (2-4) defeated Cerritos 13-10 in the opener before falling 8-6 to Fresno in the latter matchup. Cecily Loya led Ventura with seven goals on the day with five assists and four steals.

September 13, 2014Despite a split in their first two games, the VC women's water polo team was placed in Saturday's championship bracket at the Saddleback Tournament. The result was a pair of defeats for the Pirates to top-seeded Fullerton and in a rematch of Friday's loss against Chaffey.

September 12, 2014The Ventura College women's water polo team split a pair of matches at the Saddleback Tournament in Mission Viejo to open the 2014 season on Friday. The Pirates defeated East Los Angeles 12-3 in the opener before falling to Chaffey 10-3 in the nightcap. Christina Tellez and Melissa Robles each scored four goals on the day for VC (1-1).
