
Ventura College sophomores Kelsee Espitia and AnnMarie Patterson were named first team all-Western State Conference for the 2024 season in voting by the conference coaches last month. Espitia adds a second straight first team honor while Patterson was second team All-WSC a year ago. Ella Montano and Ava Carey garnered second team all-conference accolades.
Espitia, a Ventura High School product, led the Pirate offense with 96 goals and 86 assists while starting all 31 games in 2024 for VC. She also totaled 56 steals defensively and drew 24 exclusions.
Patterson, from Springville, CA, was second on the team with 93 scores, three behind Espitia, togo along with 13 assists, 20 steals and a 33 exclusions drawn.
Montano, a first team All-WSC selection a year ago, scored 73 goals with team-bests in 46 assists, 85 steals and 39 exclusions drawn. Meanwhile, Carey, anchored the Pirate defense in goal with 224 saves and a 49.3 save percentage in the cage. She also had 23 assists and 47 steals.
Sophomore Caitlyn Hilgenberg and freshman Milla Malesich earned Honorable Mention All-WSC accolades.
VC finished 18-13 in 2024 with a 4-4 WSC mark, placing fourth. They also advanced to the 3C2A Southern California Regionals.
