The Ventura College golf team struggled on their home course, but still managed to finish third in the nine-team field at the Western State Conference No. 4 event hosted at the par-72 River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard on Monday. Ventura carded a team score of 399 to finish behind Canyons at 371 and Santa Barbara at 382. Glendale was fourth with a 402. Mason Teron and Nick Burns led Ventura, each shooting a six-over 78 on the day.
Kaden Santos was the other Pirate in the 70's with a 79 while Jake Yasutake turned in an 80. Other VC scores included Michael Ray at 84 and Noah Hollander at 87.
The Pirates' next outing is Monday march 4 at Valencia Country Club. WSC no. 4 hosted by College of the Canyons tees off at 10:00 am.
