Sophomore Remy Smaby carded a 75 to lead VC to a third place finish at the WSC event in Bakersfield Monday.

The Ventura College golf team regained their form Monday to finish third of eight teams at the Western State Conference event hosted by Bakersfield at the par-72 Rio Bravo Country Club. The Pirates posted a team score of 394, finishing behind Canyons (386) and Santa Barbara (388). Matthew Thomas and Remy Smaby went low for Ventura, each carding a 3-over 75.
Other Pirate scored included Alex Hood, 77, Greg Brown, 82, Emil Ozeke, 86, and Patrick Holden, 91.
VC will next play at the Santa Barbara Invitational on Sunday and Monday, March 1 and 2.
