Associate Head Coach Brad McClain is in his eighhth season at Ventura College.  With Head Coach Nelson Emery leading both the men's and women's tennis teams for the Pirates, co-Head Coach would probably be a more appropriate title.  He also assists with the VC men's tennis team.

During McClain's tenure with the program, the Pirates won the 2012 Western State Conference title and made a deep run in the post-season.  He also helped coach a state singles champion that year.  The Pirates have had a pair of WSC singles champions during McClain's tenure.

Ventura College is special to McClain.  He played for the Pirates in 1981 and 1982,  winning the WSC singles championship as a sophomore. McClain used Ventura College to move on to Westmont College in Montecito were he played on two nationally ranked teams, finishing ninth and fifth in the country, respectfully.  He received his business degree from Westmont College in 1985.

McClain believes the best way to learn about Ventura College Tennis is by visiting the campus.  "You'll not only notice our excellent tennis facility," he said, "but you'll also notice the hills to the north and the Channel Islands and Pacific Ocean to the south.  You'll realize Ventura College is the place to be."
