WOMEN'S WATER POLO: Eight Pirates have earned All-Western State Conference distinction in women's water polo for 2013. In voting held recently by conference coaches, three players were named first-team All-WSC, three were listed as second-team, and another pair earned honorable mention nods. Sophomores Ashley Runyon and Molly Watkins headed the first-team list for VC along with freshman Lauren McCaslin.
Runyon, a Royal High School product, was second on the team with 48 goals in 2013 and led VC with 44 assists. Watkins, a transfer sophomore from Ventura High School who battled injuries all season, led VC in the cage with 217 saves. McCaslin, meanwhile, led the Pirate offensive attack with 65 goals on the season in her first year out from Ventura High School.
Sophomore Jerilyn Hollis earned second-team All-WSC distinction along with freshmen teammates Cecily Loya and Scarlett Lund-Sidi. Sophomore Sarah Shah and freshman Brittany McWaid were named honorable mention All-WSC.
