Reardon, Goodrich and Morter All-WSC For Men's Water Polo
November 27, 2017Ventura freshman Ryan Reardon headlined the Pirates' honorees on the men's wtar polo All-Western State Conference team for 2017. Reardon, an Agoura High School graduate, was VC's lone first-team all-conference selection after placing among the WSC leaders in goals, assists, steals and exclusions drawn. Meanwhile, sophomore Kyle Goodrich and freshman Cole Morter each garnered second-team ALL-WSC accolades. -
Pirates End Season in WSC Tournament
November 01, 2017The Ventura College men's water polo team saw their season come to an end Wednesday in the first round of the Western State Conference Tournament. The No. 4-seeded Pirates dropped a 10-7 decision to No. 5 Santa Monica at the Ventura Aquatic Center in a play-in game with the winner advancing to take on No. 1 LA Valley Thursday. Cole Morter and Ryan Reardon each had two goals to lead VC (9-17, 1-4) in the game.

Men's Water Polo Can't Keep Momentum at Orange Coast Mini
October 21, 2017After playing their best game of the year earlier in the week against the state's No. 3-ranked team, the Pirates' men's water polo team could not maintain the momentum, falling twice Saturday at the Orange Coast Mini in Costa Mesa. VC let a late lead slip away against Grossmont, dropping a 13-12 decision before losing to the host Orange Coast Pirates 15-8 in the second game. Ryan Reardon continued his solid play with eight goals, three assists, two drawn exclusions and six steals. and Kyle Goodrich also recorded three scores on the day for VC (9-16, 1-3).

Ventura Has Strong Effort at No. 3 LA Valley
October 18, 2017Playing one of their best games of the year, the Pirates' men's water polo team gave No. 3-ranked LA Valley all they could handle before falling 13-7 Wednesday in Valley Glen. Cole Morter drew seven ejections with one assist and a steal and Kyle Goodrich had two helpers and two drawn exclusions for VC (9-14, 1-3).Tanner islander and Ryan Reardon each netted three goals in the match.

Pirates Split Second Day in San Luis Obispo
October 14, 2017The VC men's water polo team split the second day of the Cuesta tournament in San Luis Obispo Saturday, defeating Merced 15-10 before dropping the finale to Orange Coast 16-8. Tanner Islander netted 11 goals on the day with three drawn exclusions and Ryan Reardon had seven scores with seven assists, six exclusions and a pair of steals.

Men's Water Polo Splits First Day of Cuesta Tournament
October 13, 2017The VC men's water polo team split its first pair of games at the Cuesta Tournament Friday in San Luis Obispo. Ventura defeated Cabrillo College 18-9 in the opener Friday morning before falling to Sierra College 17-10 in the nightcap. Ryan Reardon went off for 11 goals in the two matches with five drawn exclusions. Tanner Islander had five scores and four assists and Justin Bouse scored four times for the Pirates (8-12).

Islander's Late Goal Lifts Pirates Past Santa Monica
October 11, 2017In a game that was tight throughout, freshman Tanner Islander slipped near the goal on the left side, received a pass from Justin Bouse and scored the game-winning goal with 30 seconds remaining in the game. The Pirates defeated visiting Santa Monica 8-7 in Western State Conference play at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Ryan Reardon led VC (7-11, 1-2) with three goals and two drawn exclusions while Kyle Goodrich had a pair of scores with two steals against the Corsairs.

Men's Polo Falls at Citrus
October 04, 2017The Pirates' men's water polo team traveled to Glendora Wednesday afternoon, falling to Citrus College 17-7 in Western State Conference play. Jarrett Baldwin and Ryan Reardon each had two goals to lead VC in the match while Glenn Ishida, Tanner Islander and Brandon Bouse all had single scores.

VC Men Win One, Lose One at Saddleback Tournament
September 30, 2017The VC men's water polo team won a game and lost a game Saturday at the Saddleback Tournament in Mission Viejo. The Pirates (6-10) broke a five-game skid with a 15-8 victory over Modesto in the opener before falling 13-8 to the host Gauchos in the nightcap. Ryan Reardon had five goals and five assists on the day while Justin Bouse netted four scores with three steals for Ventura.

Pirates Fall in Western State Conference Opener
September 27, 2017The VC men's water polo team kept the match close for a half, but fell off late in their Western State Conference opener against Cuesta Wednesday afternoon at the Ventura Aquatic Center. After heading into halftime tied at 5-5, Ventura (5-9, 0-1) gave up three straight goals to the Cougars in the 13-9 loss. Kyle Goodrich and Tanner Islander each scored three goals to lead the Pirates in the game.

Pirates Drop Two Matches Saturday in Split Double-Header
September 23, 2017The VC men's water polo team dropped a pair of matches Saturday in a split double-header. In the morninig they fell 11-10 to the VC Alumnai at the Ventura Aquatic Center before traveling to the East County in the afternoon where they dropped a matchat Cal Lutheran University, 19-9. Ryan Reardon had five goals, an assist and two steals on the day while Justin Bouse, Glenn Ishida and Brandon Bouse all netted three scores in the two contests.

Men's Polo Pushes Long Beach in Home Opener
September 21, 2017Playing at home for the first time this season, the Ventura College men's water polo team pushed highly-ranked Long Beach City College before falling to the Vikings 17-10. VC (5-6) led at the end of the first quarter, and trailed by one at halftime before a third quarter collapse established the result. Ryan Reardon had four goals to lead VC while Glen Ishida scored three times.

Pirate Men Split Sunday at Mt. SAC Tournament
September 16, 2017The Pirates' men's water polo team continued their one-up, one-down season on Sunday with a split of a pair of matches to conclude the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament . Ventura (5-5) outmatched Southwestern 20-8 before falling to Orange Coast 16-8 in games played at Citrus College in Glendora. VC's depth showed through the day as nine different Pirates scored a goal in the two games and the team had three goalkeepers play significant minutes, as well.

Pirates Gain Ground in Split of Rematches
September 15, 2017The VC men's water polo team showed progress Friday in splitting a pair of rematches from early season games at the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament in Walnut. In the opener, VC narrowly fell to the host Mounties 12-11 on a last-minute goal before coming from behind in the final quarter for a 12-11 victory over Fullerton in the nightcap. Ryan Reardon had four goals and three steals on the day and Glenn Ishida also netted four scores for Ventura (4-4).

VC Men's Water Polo 1-1 on Final Day of Tourney
September 09, 2017Playing the final day of the Citrus Tournament down the road at Mt. San Antonio College, the Pirates' men's water polo team went 1-1 Saturday. VC produced a big win against Grossmont 17-10 in the first game of the day before dropping what was essentially a road match against Mt. SAC, 15-13. Ryan Reardon led the way for Ventura (3-3) with eight goals on the day while Kyle Goodrich had four assists and four steals. Goalie Derek Gamberutti recorded 14 saves.

Men's Polo Splits Pair at Citrus Tournament
September 08, 2017Playing their first competition against community college teams, the Pirates' men's water polo team split a pair of matches at the Citrus Tournament in Glendora. VC could not make a halftime advantage hold up against Fullerton in the first match of the day, falling to the Hornets 11-8. VC rebounded to take a 15-13 victory against Chaffey in the nightcap.

Men's Polo Splits Openers Against Division III Schools
September 02, 2017The Ventura College men's water polo team opened the 2017 season Saturday, splitting a pair of matches against NCAA Division III schools at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga. The Pirates opened with a 15-10 victory over Cal Tech before dropping the nightcap to University of La Verne 16-7. Glenn Ishida scored six goals on the day with three steals.
