
The VC men's water polo team played a pair of games Friday at the Santa Monica Mini, falling to Southwestern and Cypress. Alexis Nava had a pair of scores on the day with three steals while Joe Lowry also netted two goals for the Pirates.
Ventura 3, Southwestern 16
Nava netted one goal with one assist, one steal, one field block and one drawn ejection. Sebastian Cornejo had a goal with four steals and a field block and Carlos Gonzalez found the inside of the cage once with four thefts. Sebastian Ayala recorded seven saves in goal for Ventura.
Ventura 4, Cypress 18
Lowry scored twice in the game with a steal while Nava recorded a goal with two thefts. Matthew Ogonowski scored once with an assist. Defensively, Cornejo grabbed three steals while Gonzales and Rafael Ramon each hauled in two thefts. Ayala turned back six Charger shots in the cage.
The Pirates have a quick turnaround, heading to San Luis Obispo on Saturday Oct. 15 for a pair of games against Las Positas and Ohlone, respectively.
