Hosting the fourth round of Western State Conference play the Ventura College golf team finished in third place out of eight teams. This is the Pirates fourth top three finish at a WSC event this season. They were topped by Brandon Resnick who fired an even par 72 good for fifth place on the day.
On a beautiful monday at the River Ridge Golf Club in Ventura County, the Pirates played host to seven other WSC schools. VC set out to take the next step in their season and pick up a first place finish after two third places and one second place. A team total of 379 was good enough for a third place finish for the third time this season and College of the Canyons finished with 364 for first place and Santa Barbara City narrowly outpaced the Pirates at 376.
Resnick was the top scorer for VC, but he was trailed closely by Kyle Dollison who fired a 76. Then three Pirate golfers finished at 77 they were Matt Sieger, Austin Kratochvil and Brian Wipf. Emil Ozeke was the sixth golfer for Ventura to fire in the 70's with a seven over par 79 for the day.
Ventura will next be on the course on Sunday Mar. 6 and Monday Mar. 7 as they will play in the Pt. Conception Invitational to be held at Marshallia Ranch/La Purisima. Each day is set for an 11:30 tee off.
