Austin Brunk, Ryan Reardon and Brandyn Robles headline the Pirates' men's water polo team's All-Western State Conference honorees for the 2019 season. The trio were all named first-team all-conference in voting by the WSC coaches earlier this month. Daniel Mclean and Jake Peters received second-team All-WSC nods while Gabriel Ibarra, Brandon Berce and Julian Larios all earned Honorable Mention honors.
Brunk, a sophomore from Newbury Park High School, was second in the conference in steals with 52 and fourth in the WSC with 35 assists on the season. Reardon, also a sophomore, is an Agoura High School product. He ran away with the WSC scoring title with 103 goals scored on the season, and he was fourth in steals (45) and sixth in assists (30). Robles, a freshman from Rio Mesa High School, finished third in the WSC in assists (39) while scoring 39 goals on the year.
Mclean anchored the Pirate defense from the goal with 153 saves and 30 steals on the year and Peters netted 22 goals with 16 assists and 24 steals for the Pirates.
The resurgent Pirates improved from a two-win campaign in 2018 to post an 11-15 mark in 2019, 3-3 in the WSC. They earned a third place finish in the WSC Tournament with a 14-8 victory over Santa Monica in the season finale under first-year head coach Travis Allain.
