The Ventura College golf team finished third Monday afternoon at the Western State Conference No. 3 at Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Solvang. Michael Ray was the low Pirate with a 4-over 76, goof for a tie for ninth place overall out of 48 golfers, as the Pirates shot a 395 as a team. Canyons won the event with a score of 366 followed by Santa Barbara, who turned in a 373 on their home course to finish second.
Tyler Herrera carded a 78 for Ventura while Jake Yasutake shot a 79. Mason Teron, Nick Burns and Steen Zeman all turned in 81's on the day.
The Pirates return to the links at the WSC No. 4 hosted at Bakersfield Country Club on Monday Feb. 24.
