On a perfect day for golf in the Inland Empire, Mason Teron turned in the Pirates' first red number of the season, carding a 1-under par 71 at the Soboba Springs Golf Club Wednesday in the Mt. San Jacinto College Eagle Classic. Teron tied for second place overall, and Michael Ray tied for ninth with a 1-over 73 leading Ventura to a tie for fifth place overall with a season-best score of 382. Cypress Won the 16-team event with a 367, 15 strokes ahead of the Pirates.
Other Pirate scores for the tournament included Nick Burns at 76, Evan Colborn at Jake Yasutake each with an 81, and Kaden Santos at 85.
Cypress finished first with a team score of 367, followed by Reedley (375), Mt. San Antonio (378), Desert (379), and Ventura, Irvine Valley and Mt. San Jacinto all with 382.
The Pirates resume Western State COnference play on Monday Feb. 17 at the WSC No. 3 hosted by Santa Barbara at Alisal Ranch Golf Club in Solvang.
