
The VC men's tennis team traveled to Santa Barbara Tuesday, coming home with an 8-1 victory over the Vaqueros. Santino Serralonga, Lucas Abreau and Valentino Oggero were all double winners for the Pirates (7-0, 4-0). Jinsei Tajima, Philemon Jabin and Julian Tellez also produced points in singles play while Eduardo Gorgonio Criscuolo partnered with Abreau for a win in doubles.
The Pirates' No. 1 doubles team of Tajima and Jabin narrowly dropped their match, 9-7 before VC came back with an 8-3 win at No. 2 with Serralonga and Oggero and a 9-8 (7-2) triumph at No. 3 with Abreau and Criscuolo.
In singles play, Abreau won his No. 4 match one and love and Oggero prevailed in No. 5, love and one. Tellez won his No. 6 singles match 6-0, 6-3 and Jabin won in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Serralonga was dominant in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0 while Tajima won his No. 1 singles contest, 6-4, 6-3.
Ventura next hosts Glendale on Thursday March 16 with a chance to clinch the program's 22nd Western State Conference title.
