Men's Tennis Completes Undefeated Conference Season

VC freshman Alexander Martin won his No. 6 singles match love and love as the Pirates completed an undefeated Western State Conference season with a 9-0 win over visiting Bakersfield on Tuesday.

The Pirates' men's tennis team completed yet another undefeated Western State Conference season Tuesday with a 9-0 shutout victory over visiting Bakersfield College. Adrien Etiemble, Rodrigo Perdigao and Alexander Martin all won in singles without giving up a game. Meanwhile, Solal Cherqui and Rafael Dunan, and Martin and Jakob Rinschen won in shutout fashion in doubles for Ventura (11-1, 8-0).

Etiemble won in no. 3 singles while Perdigao and Martin triumphed in Nos. 5 and 6 singles, respectively. Dunan posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles while Priyank Soni won in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-3. Solal Cherqui won his first set at No. 1 singles, 7-5, before his opponent withdrew.

In doubles, Cherqui and Dunan won at No. 2, 8-0, as did Martin and Rinschen at No. 3. Soni and Etiemble won in No. 1 doubles, 8-3.

The Pirates close the regular season on Friday March 29 at Grossmont College. They will begin play in the Western State Conference singles and doubles championships at the VC Tennis Center Friday April 6.
