  • Men's Tennis' Solal Cherqui Inks Offer
    July 30, 2018
    Pirate tennis freshman Solal Cherqui has signed a scholarship to continue his academic and athletic careers at NCAA Division II St. Leo University in Florida. Cherqui, who hails from Paris, France, was VC's No. 1 singles player in 2018, posting an overall record of 16-5, 10-3 in dual competition. He also was 14-5 in double play with partner Rafael Dunan.
  • Men's Tennis Dominates All-WSC Awards
    May 29, 2018
    The Pirates' men's tennis team dominated the All-Western State Conference selections as voted upon by the conference coaches. In awards announced last month, VC occupied all six first team positions in singles, sharing one, and was honored with all three first team positions in doubles. Additionally, Solal Cherqui was named the WSC Player of the Year and Pirate head coach Nelson Emery was named the Coach of the Year.
  • Pirate Tennis Season Ends in State Quarterfinals

    The Ventura College men's tennis season came to an end Saturday in the quarterfinal round of the CCCAA State Singles and Doubles Championships at The Ojai Tournament. Priyank Soni dropped his quarterfinal match against the No. 1 seed in the draw in the morning while Solal Cherqui and Rafael Dunan lsot their quarterfinal match in the afternoon.

    The Pirates' men's tennis team continued play in the CCCAA State singles and Doubles Championships Friday in The Ojai Tournament. Priyank Soni made it through to the quarterfinals to be held Saturday April 28 while the doubles team of Solal Cherqui and Rafael Dunan also moved through the draw to the quarterfinals.
  • Men's Tennis Competes in State at The Ojai

    The Pirates' men's tennis team began its final weekend of the season Thursday with five singles players and three doubles teams moving on to day two of the CCCAA State Singles and Doubles Championships at The Ojai. Victories included upset victoies by Rafael Dunan, Augustin Lestelle and Priyank Soni in singles play while Alexander Martin and Jakob Runschen had an upset win in doubles.
  • Me's Tennis Team Season Comes to and End at No. 1 Cerritos
    April 21, 2018
    The Pirates' men's tennis team had its playoff run come to a halt Saturday afternoon as the No. 2-seeded Pirates were swept by No. 1 Cerritos, 5-0. Although the Pirates won more games against the Falcons than they did in their March 9 meeting, The Falcons proved once again to be too much for the Pirates (14-2) one step shy of the state championship match.
  • Ventura Blows Past Riverside Into Regional Finals

    In the playoffs, the mantra is survive and advance. The No. 2-seeded Pirates' men's tennis team added some style points Tuesday, easily defeating No. 3 Riverside City College 5-1 in the CCCAA SoCal Regional Semifinals at the VC Tennis Center. Solal Cherqui was a double winner in No. 1 singles and with Rafael Dunan in No. 3 doubles while Priyank Soni also earned two points for Ventura (14-1), claiming victory in No. 2 singles and with Adrien Etiemble in No. 1 doubles. Rodrigo Perdigao's win in No. 6 singles clinched the match.
  • Soni Captures WSC Singles Title, Just Misses Doubles With Etiemble

    VC men's tennis freshman Priyank Soni had quite the day Friday. After a WSC semifinal victory over doubles teammate Adrien Etiemble, he then defeated teammate Cherqui Solal to earn the conference championship in the singles draw. If battling two teammates in two singles matches was not enough, Soni then teammed up with Etiemble in the WSC doubles championship, dropping a marathon contest with multiple match points for both sides.
  • Pirates Sweep Past Saddleback in Playoff Opener
    April 10, 2018
    The Ventura College men's tennis team had little trouble with visiting Saddleback Tuesday i nthe quarterfinal round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs, sweeping the Gauchos 5-0 at the VC Tennis Center. The No. 2-seeded Pirates swept through the three doubles matches before winning in Nos. 3 and 5 singles matches, respectively, to advance to the next round.
  • Men's Tennis Headed to CCCAA SoCal Playoffs as No. 2 Seed
    April 08, 2018
    The Ventura College men's tennis team has earned the No. 2 seed in the CCCAA Southern California Regional team dual playoffs. The Pirates (12-1) will host Saddleback College (10-8) in a regional quarterfinal match on Tuesday April 10. Play is set to begin at 2:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.
  • Men's Tennis Continue Strong Play at WSC Campionships

    The Pirates' men's tennis team continued their strong play Saturday at the Western State Conference Singles and Doubles Championships at the VC Tennis Center. Ventura qualified six players for the CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai in singles while placing three players in the WSC semifinals. Meanwhile, VC also advanced three doubles pairs to the semifinals with another duo also in contention for The Ojai.
  • Pirate Men Dominate First Day of WSC Championships
    April 06, 2018
    The Pirates' men's tennis team dominated the first day of the Western State Conference Championships with six players advancing to the round of 16 and four doubles teams moving on to the quarterfinals. In singles, top-seed Solal Cherqui, No. 6-seed Priyank Soni, No. 7-seed Adrien Etiemble and No. 10-seed Augustin Lestelle all advanced to the round of 16 without dropping a game. Meanwhile, in doubles, No. 1-seed Soni and Etiemble moved to the quarters without playing a match and No. 3-seed Cherqui and Rafael Dunan advanced with a shutout.
  • Pirates Take Regular Season Finale at Grossmont

    The Pirates' men's tennis team took their regular season finale in El Cajon Friday 8-1 over host Grossmont College. The Pirates' depth shone through once again with the biggest victories coming at the bottom of the ladder. Rafael Dunan won in No. 5 singles one and love while Rodrigo Perdigao claimed his No. 6 singles match two and love. Alexander Martin and Jakon Rinschen teamed up for an easy win at No. 2 doubles while Dunan paired with Priyank Soni to win in No. 3.
  • Men's Tennis Completes Undefeated Conference Season
    March 27, 2018
    The Pirates' men's tennis team completed yet another undefeated Western State Conference season Tuesday with a 9-0 shutout victory over visiting Bakersfield College. Adrien Tiemble, Rodrigo Perdigao and Alexander Martin all won in singles without giving up a game. Meanwhile, Solal Cherqui and Rafael Dunan, and Martin and Jakob Rinchen won in shutout fashion in doubles for Ventura (11-1, 8-0).
  • Men's Tennis Clinches Another WSC Title

    The Ventura College men's tennis team clinched their fourth consecutive Western State Conference championship Tuesday with a weather-shortened 5-1 victory over visiting Los Angeles Pierce College. Augustin Lestelle, Rafael Dunan and Rodrigo Perdigao all won their matches love and love as the Pirates captured the WSC crown for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons and the 15th time since 2001.

    The Pirates' men's tennis team did not fare well Friday taking on top-ranked Cerritos College on the road. The Pirates took their first loss of the year, falling to the Falcons 7-2. Priyank Soni and Augustin Lestelle produced VC's only victories of the day at Nos. 2 and 4 singles, respectively.

    The VC Men's tennis team made it six straight sweeping victories in conference play Thursday afternoon with a 9-0 triumph over Santa Barbara City College at Pershing Park. Alexander Martin posted a love love victory at No. 6 singles, and Augustin Lestelle and Rodrigo Perdigao blanked their opponents in No. 3 doubles.The victory maintains the Pirates' perfect mark at 9-0 and runs their Western State Conference mark to 6-0.
  • VC Continues WSC Dominance WIth Sweep

    The Ventura College men's tennis team posted their fifth straight sweep in Western State Conference play Tuesday afternoon, defeating Glendale 9-0 at the VC Tennis Center. The Prates (8-0, 5-0) remained undefeated on the season with the win. Solal Cherqui (No. 1), Augustin Lestelle (No. 4) and Rodrigo Perdigoa (No. 6) all won their singles matches love and love. Lestelle and Perdigao also teamed up for an 8-0 victory in No. 3 doubles.
  • Pirates Defeat Bakersfield and Beat Rain, On the Road

    The VC men's tennis team defeated the Bakersfield Renegades Tuesday afternoon while beating the rain to do it. The Pirates won five singles matches before the skies opened up, ending the match with Ventura ahead 5-0. Priyank Soni and Rodrigo Perdigao each led the way with love and love victories at the Nos. 2 and 6 slots, respectively.
  • Men's Tennis Dominant Again at LA Pierce

    With their fourth sweep in six matches, the VC men's tennis team remained unbeaten Tuesday with a 9-0 victory at Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills. Rafael Dunan had the biggest victory with a one and love triumph at No. 5 singles while Alexander Martin prevailed 6-1, 6-1 in BNo. 6 singles. The doubles team of Rodrigo Perdigao and Manu Rowe won at the No. 3 slot, 8-1 for the Pirates (6-0, 3-0).

    The VC men's tennis team maintained its undefeated record Friday with a 9-0 sweep against De Anza College at the Pierpont Racquet Club. Augustin Lestelle and Rafael Dunan each lost just one game in their straight sets victories while Alexander Martin won 6-1, 6-1.

    In the twilight of the evening sun at the VC Tennis Center, Priyank Soni outlasted his opponent in No. 2 singles, 7-5, 2-6, 7-6, allowing the Pirates' men's tennis team to post a hard-fought 5-4 victory over visiting Cypress College on Friday. Soni was a double-winner, teaming up woth Adrien Etiemble to win in No. 2 doubles, 8-3. Etiemble was also a double winner, claiming the No. 3 singles slot by a 7-5, 6-3 score.
  • "Golden Set" Leads Pirate Sweep of Santa Barbara

    VC freshman Rafael Dunan was on. In his first set Thursday in his No. 5 singles match he won 24 consecutive points to defeat his opponent 6-0 in a "golden set." He also swept the second set,although not in golden fashion, to lead the Pirates to a 9-0 sweep of visiting Santa Barbara in Western State Conference action.Solal Cherqui (No. 1 singles) and Priyank Soni (No. 2 singles) both lost just four games in their straight set victories.

    The Pirates' men's tennis team opened defense of its Western State Conference title with an easy 9-0 sweep at Glendale Tuesday afternoon. Adrien Etiemble teamed up with Priyank Soni to win No. 2 doubles, 8-1, then produced a love, love winner at No. 3 singles. Alexander Martin also shut out his opponent at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
  • Men's Tennis Opens 2018 with decisive win over Desert
    January 27, 2018
    The Ventura College men's tennis team opened the 2018 season with a decisive 8-1 victory over visiting College of the Desert Saturday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. Rafael Dunan was a double winner, at No. 5 singles and with Solal Cherqui in No. 1 doubles, as was Priyank Soni (No. 2 singles) and Adrien Etiemble (No. 3 singles), as they teamed up to win No. 2 doubles. Manu Rowe also won twice, in No. 6 singles, and with Alexander martin in No. 3 doubles.
