Richard Sinclair enters his 16th year assisting with the women’s basketball team at Ventura College. He is involved in all daily practice sessions as an on-floor coach and mentor for the team, often times anchoring the scout team practicing against the Pirates. He was a key influence in the Pirates’ state championships in 2010 and 2014.
Dick was an all-league and All-CIF player at La Cañada High School in 1973 and 1974. He averaged 22 points per game his senior season for the Spartans. He received a scholarship to Pepperdine University, and played one season for the Waves, scoring eight points per game as a freshman in 1975. He then transferred to the University of Southern California where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1978.
Dick’s son Matt was a student assistant for the Pirates in 2008-2010. His favorite food is San Sai and favorite movie is Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield. He likes Crosby Stills and Nash and enjoys attending sporting events, playing basketball and working out.
