    June 26, 2014
Pirate head football coach Steve Mooshagian has announced seven players from the 2013 Southern California Bowl team have committed to four-year schools this spring and summer. • FB Has Five Mid-Year Transfers
    February 06, 2014
Pirate head football coach Steve Mooshagian has announced that five Pirates from the 2013 Pirate football team have transferred to four-year schools at mid-year, making them eligible to participate in spring practice at their new schools. One is transferring to NCAA Division I Football Bowl Series, one is moving on to an NCAA Division I Football Championship Series school, one to NCAA Division II, and two to an NAIA institution. These five helped VC to a two-year mark of 17-5 and two bowl appearances, in addition to the 2012 SCFA Northern Conference championship. In the past four years, VC has now matriculated 71 players to four-year schools under coach Mooshagian. The team anticipates more transfers in the post-signing day period.

    January 23, 2014
Offensive lineman Greg Hughes has earned All-American honors from the California Community College Football Coaches Association for his efforts during the Pirates' 2013 football season. Aaron Stanton and Paul Harris received unanimous selections as all-purpose back and return specialist, respectively. Stanton actually earned three first team nods, including running back and second-team return specialist. Brad Odeman, Dylan McDaniel, and Greg Hughes were named first team on offense while Patrick Hall was honored on defense.
  • FB Falls in Golden State Bowl
    November 23, 2013
In the 81-season history of Ventura College football, the Pirates had never played in three consecutive bowl games, until Saturday. Unfortunately for the Pirates, who took the field with 17 sophomores and 53 freshmen on the roster, they were facing Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. The Mounties, state champions in 2009 and 2010, were not playing in the Southern California Championship for the first time since 2006 and were a touch match up for VC, a program on a steady rise into the state's elite. On this day VC had not quite made it, however, as Mt. SAC captured a 42-14 victory.
  • Pirates In Third Straight Bowl
    November 17, 2013
The Pirate football team has enjoyed unprecedented success during the four-year tenure of head coach Steve Mooshagian. Sunday, the Pirates received their third straight bowl invitation for the first time in program history, and they have been moved into the heavyweight division. The Pirates (6-4), ranked No. 8 in the final Southern California rankings will head to Walnut on Saturday Nov. 23 for a 1:00 pm date in the Golden State Bowl against host No. 5 Mt. San Antonio College (8-2).
  • Odeman, "D" Lead VC to Victory
    November 09, 2013
Quarterback Brad Odeman passed for 353 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 53 yards and four more scores leading the Pirates to a 37-27 victory at Pasadena City College Saturday night. The Pirate defense held the Lancers' offense scoreless in the second half, as VC turned a 21-21 halftime tie into a 35-21 advantage in the closing minutes. Defensive end Ben Dixon had three quarterback sacks and linebacker Matt Singleton had 12 stops, including three for a loss. With the win, the Pirates end the regular season at 6-4, 4-2 in the Northern Conference, and become bowl eligible for the third straight year, a first in Ventura College football history.
  • Stanton Leads VC Past AHC
    November 02, 2013
On the Pirates' first play from scrimmage, freshman running back Aaron Stanton raced 85 yards for a touchdown. • Wild 1st Quarter Downs Pirates
    October 26, 2013
A wild first quarter in which Cerritos scored 34 points doomed the Pirate football team Saturday night, as VC lost their third straight contest for the first time in five years, 56-27 on the road. Freshman Aaron Stanton had 220 yards from scrimmage, including 154 yards rushing with two touchdowns and 66 yards receiving, and quarterback Brad Odeman threw for 38 yards, but it was not near enough to turn back the Falcons.
  • Pirates Knocked Down by CoC
    October 19, 2013
For the first time since the end of the 2011 season, the Pirate football team does not sit atop the Northern Conference following their 44-23 loss to College of the Canyons at the Sportsplex Saturday night. VC (4-3, 2-1) was with one, 14-13 in the second quarter, and pulled to within a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, but too many missed opportunities and too many big plays by the Cougars ended VC's 9-game conference winning streak.
  • Pirates Humbled at Saddleback
    October 12, 2013
What started out as a shootout in the first quarter became a rout in the second as the Pirate football team dropped a 52-28 non-conference contest at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo Saturday night. The Gauchos scored 31 unanswered points from late in the first period through early in the third, taking control of a 14-14 contest. VC (4-2, 2-0) inflicted much of the damage unto itself with five turnovers, including three interceptions in the red zone.

    October 09, 2013

    October 03, 2013

  • Pirate FB Wins at Bakersfield
    September 28, 2013
Behind quarterback Brad Odeman the Pirate offense rolled to a 24-0 halftime lead Saturday night at Bakersfield. The VC defense did the rest, holding off a late charge by the Renegades, as Ventura claimed a 24-16 victory at Bakersfield's Memorial Stadium, the Pirates first victory in 13 tries at the classic California community college football venue. Odeman passed for 236 yards and two touchdowns while Paul Harris rushed for 106 yards, and punter Alex Nelson pinned BC inside their own 10-yard line three times, including on the Renegades final drive, to help preserve the Pirate win.

For the third straight game he threw for five touchdowns, and Saturday against Los Angeles Harbor he ran for another as Ventura rolled past the Seahawks 46-6 at the VC Sportsplex. Odeman completed 33 of 47 pass attempts for 432 yards, and still has not thrown an interception in 2013. Kevon Mitchell was Odeman's most productive target Saturday with seven catches for 129 yards and a score. Meanwhile the Pirate defense held Harbor to 161 total yards on the night.
  • Two Pirates Honored by SCFA
    September 18, 2013

Meanwhile, running back Aaron Stanton received the Special Teams/All-Purpose Player of the Week honor with 240 all-purpose yards and a touchdown.
  • Football Holds Off Long Beach
    September 14, 2013
As the bumper sticker says, "Get in, sit down, and hold on!" A year after winning seven games by a touchdown or less, and a week after racing to an 18 point first-half lead, only to fall by 18 points, the Ventura College football team is at it again, leading 44-14 in the third quarter before having to rely on a blocked field goal in the closing seconds to preserve their 44-42 home win against Long Beach City College Saturday.
  • Pirates Unable to Top Riverside
    September 07, 2013
Eight months after closing the most successful season in school history, the Pirate football team took to the field for an encore Saturday night at Riverside. Despite jumping out to a 28-10 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the first half, VC could not hold back the Tigers, eventually falling by a 59-41 score. Sophomore Brad Odeman completed 27-46 passes for 246 yards and five touchdowns, but Ventura (0-1) could not stop Riverside, especially in the second half, as RCC racked up 812 net yards on offense in the contest.
  • VC Looks to Remain Among Elite
    September 02, 2013
from the Ventura County Star For years, the Ventura College football team has been one of the teams waiving their arms in the background. That ended emphatically last fall. The Pirates were impossible to miss as they rolled to their first 10-0 regular season in school history, winning their first SCFA Northern Conference title and hosting a Southern California semifinal. When the preseason polls were released last week, VC was prominently placed in the region (No. 4), state (No. 6) and nation (No. 8).
