FOOTBALL: Two Pirates have been honored by the Southern California Football Association with Player of the Week honors for their performances in week two against Long Beach. Quarterback Brad Odeman was named the Northern Conference Offensive Player of the Week after passing for 337 yards and five touchdowns. Meanwhile, running back Aaron Stanton received the Special Teams/All-Purpose Player of the Week honor with 240 all-purpose yards and a touchdown.
Odeman, a 6-foot-3 200-pound sophomore from Vintage High School in Napa completed 26 of 39 pass attempts and also ran the ball 10 times for 61 yards. Stanton, who hails from Moorpark High School, rushed 16 times for 120 yards, including a 65-yard scamper to paydirt, caught four passes for 42 yards, and returned three kickoffs for 78 yards. VC defeated Long Beach City College 44-42 in their home opener in week two.
