FOOTBALL: The Pirate football team has enjoyed unprecedented success during the four-year tenure of head coach Steve Mooshagian. Sunday, the Pirates received their third straight bowl invitation for the first time in program history, and they have been moved into the heavyweight division. The Pirates (6-4), ranked No. 8 in the final Southern California rankings will head to Walnut on Saturday Nov. 23 for a 1:00 pm date in the Golden State Bowl against host No. 5 Mt. San Antonio College (8-2).
The match up with the Mounties will be just the 11th all-time in VC hostory, and just the third since 1956. Mt. SAC owns a 7-2-1 advantage in the series, but the teams split their last two meetings in 2001 and 2002. The Mounties prevailed in 2001 43-24 and VC won in 2002, 40-14.
