Pirate Baseball Transfers 11 Players to Four-Year Schools
August 29, 2016The Ventura College baseball program finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 18-18. Their success extended beyond the field of play with a team GPA of over 3.0 for the third time in four seasons. Additionally, nine Pirate athletes earned Western State Conference honors for their individual efforts. With the Pirates beginning preparation for their 2017 campaign the program and coaching staff is proud to announce the destinations for their 11 transfers to four-year college baseball programs. -
Eight Pirates Earn All-WSC North Honors in Baseball
May 11, 2016The 2016 Ventura College baseball team played to an 18-18 record narrowly missing a berth in the State Regional Playoffs, but in addition eight Pirate baseball players earned various Western State Conference North Honors. VC was lead by two players on the first team, three on the second team and three honorable mention selections. As well, two Pirate infielders were honored as Gold Glove defenders at their position. -
Pirate Baseball Caps Season With Win Over Oxnard
April 29, 2016The Ventura College baseball team traveled to face off with rival their rival Oxnard College and capped their year with a 7-3 win. VC picked up nine hits including five doubles to plate their nine runs. Seven of the nine Pirate starters picked up a hit with Erick Allegro knocking out two including a double and Evyn Yamaguchi picking up two doubles. Joey Contreras earned the win with four innings of one hit relief. -
Baseball Falls at Home against Condors
April 28, 2016In their final home game of the 2016 season the Ventura College baseball team dropped a 6-4 decision in a game not decided till the final pitch. Ventura collected eight hits with Bryson Wallet and Erick Allegro tripling and Robert Stephan doubling. Joey Contreras, Brandon Ward and Carlos Soto combined to allow no runs in two innings of relief. -
Pirates Fall to Vaqueros
April 26, 2016The Ventura College baseball team dropped a 6-1 decision to Santa Barbara City at home. Ventura collected four hits in the game with Bryson Wallet picking up his first home run of the season. Nate Green started for Ventura and lasted eight innings allowing eight hits and four earned runs with seven strikeouts. -
Pirates Bats Remain Quiet in Loss to SBCC
April 23, 2016Sitting in third place in the WSC the Ventura College baseball team took on second place Santa Barbara City in an important conference match up. The Pirates dropped a 6-1 decision to the Vaqueros as their offense mustered just four total hits. Tony Fonzo picked up a single, drew a walk and was hit by a pitch. Brison Cronenbold scored the lone Pirate run. Zachary Martirano gave the Pirates an inning of scoreless relief. -
Pirate Baseball's Bats Quiet Against Cuesta
April 21, 2016The Ventura College baseball team traveled to San Luis Obispo to take on first place Cuesta and again was unable to produce any significant offense falling 6-0. Nate Green started for the Pirates and went seven innings allowing four runs on 10 hits with seven strikeouts but suffered the hard luck loss. Erick Allegro went 2-4 while Evyn Yamaguchi added a double. -
Pirates Can't Solve Jenkins in Loss to Cuesta
April 19, 2016The Ventura College baseball team matched up with first place Cuesta and were unable to solve their ace in a 5-1 loss. Ventura managed just three hits off of the Cuesta starter and plated just one run with Erick Allegro scoring the one run. Cody Pope had a single and reached base via a hit by pitch. Cody Durfee had a double. -
Fonzo and Cronenbold Propel Pirates to Win Over Pierce
April 16, 2016Finishing up a four game week the Ventura College baseball team swept their season series with Los Angeles Pierce in dramatic fashion 4-3. Brison Cronenbold had three hits in the game and two doubles with two walks to set the table for the Pirates offense. While Tony Fonzo continues a dynamic sophomore season with two hits, a walk and two RBI including the walk-off winner in the bottom of the ninth. -
PIrate Baseball Unable to Stay With Moorpark
April 15, 2016The Ventura College baseball team entered their match up with Moorpark in sole possession of third place, but a 19-8 loss dropped them into a third place tie. Robert Stephan and Brison Cronenbold each collected two hits, scored two runs and Stephan drove in a pair of runs. Joey Contreras, Baylor Mitchell and Raymond Flores each provided Ventura with scoreless relief appearances. -
Pirates Offense Explodes to Defeat Pierce
April 14, 2016Coming off a shut out loss in their last game the Ventura College baseball team used a 13 hit and 15 run attack to defeat Los Angeles Pierce. Nate Green went eight innings for Ventura to pick up his fifth win of the season allowing just four runs in the game. Erick Allegro, Bryson Wallet and Blake Diaz each picked up multiple hits for Ventura in a balanced offensive attack. -
Lambert's Strong Start Not Enough in Loss to Moorpark
April 12, 2016The Ventura College baseball team took to the field for the first time in ten days after their bye week and a rain out, but the rest was not enough to recharge the Pirate offense. VC fell 2-0 against Moorpark and managed just three hits. Ray Lambert the recent San Diego State commit went seven innings allowing five hits and two runs with 10 strikeouts, but took just his second loss of the season. -
Pirate Baseball Rally Falls Short
April 02, 2016The Ventura College baseball spotted Allan Hancock five runs early and were unable to mount a rally in dropping a 5-3 game. Robert Stephan, Erick Allegro and Ryan Coker each picked up two hits. Allegro drove in one run. The Ventura bullpen went seven innings of scoreless relief after the Pirate starter was knocked out after the first inning. -
Pirates Bats Carry Them to Win Over Hancock
March 31, 2016Returning home for their first home game in 10 days the Ventura College baseball team's bats came alive for 15-7 win over Allan Hancock. Bryson Wallet and Brison Cronenbold had six hits between the two of them, three doubles and nine RBI while scoring three runs to propel the Pirate offense. Nate Green picked up the win with Adisson Pelupessy going 2.2 innings of scoreless relief for his sixth save -
Baseball Shuts Out Rival Oxnard
March 29, 2016Traveling to Oxnard to take on their rivals the Ventura College baseball team overcame a stiff wind for a 3-0 shut out win. Behind the arms of Ray Lambert and Adisson Pelupessy the Pirates held OC to eight hits and no runs for the win. Tony Fonzo provided the offensive firepower with four hits including a two run home run. -
Pirates Slug Their Way to Non-Conference Win
March 22, 2016Traveling to Pasadena to complete their non-conference schedule the Ventura College baseball team used their second 20+ hit output of the season to pick up a 17-8 win. Tony Fonzo topped the Pirates going 3-3 on the day with two home runs, six RBI and five runs scored. Brison Cronenbold went 4-5 with a home run and four runs scored. Erick Allegro added four hits, four RBI and a run scored. T.J. Durfee made his first start and had four hits, four RBI and a run scored. -
Pirates Baseball Walks Off Condors Behind Wallet
March 18, 2016In rivalry game between Ventura College baseball and Oxnard College you can always expect to see something wild and a 7-6 walk off win for the Pirates did not disappoint. Bryson Wallet had two hits and five RBI in the game including a walk off single in the bottom of the ninth. Adisson Pelupessy threw a complete game for the win. -
Baseball Unable to Hold Off SBCC in 8-4 Defeat
March 17, 2016Returning home the Ventura College baseball team looked for a chance to stay atop the Western State Conference North, but were unable to hold off Santa Barbara City falling 8-4. Ray Lambert started and went six innings for VC allowing 10 hits, but just three runs and struck out six hitters. Tony Fonzo and Erick Allegro each had two hits with Allegro driving in two runs. Vinny Avila had an rbi triple and scored a run. -
Baseball Loses Early Lead Falls to SBCC
March 15, 2016Back on the road for an important early season Western State Conference match up the Ventura College baseball team couldn't hold onto an early lead and fell 8-6 to Santa Barbara. Ryan Coker had a pair of two out two RBI singles for the Pirates. Brison Cronenbold had three hits including a double and scored two runs. Bryson Wallet had three hits including a double and scored one run and drove in two. -
Baseball Has Win Streak Snapped Against Cuesta
March 12, 2016In a match up of two ranked So Cal teams the Ventura College baseball team fell 10-5 to Cuesta on the road in San Luis Obispo. On a soggy field the Pirates were not able to keep pace with the Cougars offensive attack. Tony Fonzo collected three hits in four trips to the plate and drove in one run. Adisson Pelupessy added two hits including an rbi double, scored one run and threw an inning of scoreless relief with one strikeout. -
Lambert Dominates as Baseball Shuts Out Cuesta
March 10, 2016Ventura College baseball entered the week as the No. 15 team in Southern California and set for a face off with No. 11 ranked Cuesta looming ahead. On the back of Ray Lambert the Pirates picked up a 3-0 win. Lambert held the Cougars to just four hits all singles, did not walk a batter and racked up a season high 13 strikeouts for the Pirates. -
Baseball Rides Seven Run Eighth To Win Over Pierce
March 08, 2016Playing host to Los Angeles Pierce the Ventura College baseball team found a way to rally back for a 7-2 win. Nate Green went seven innings allowing six hits and two runs (one earned) with six strikeouts in a no decision. Robert Stephan had two hits including a two rbi triple and scored one run. Adisson Pelupessy added a two rbi single. Joey Contreras earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief. -
Baseball Downs LA Pierce 7-4
March 05, 2016Traveling to Woodland Hills on a gray misty day the Ventura College baseball team downed Los Angeles Pierce 7-4. Zachary Martirano went 7.1 innings allowing four runs on nine hits with four strikeouts for his second win of the season. Ryan Coker had a two rbi single. The Pirates offense managed just six hits, but they drew 11 walks in the game, including three by Tony Fonzo. -
Baseball Doubles Up Moopark in WSC Win
March 03, 2016Ventura College baseball has been a season of streaks so far. This time a 8-4 win over cross county rival Moorpark College broke a four game losing streak for the Pirates. Robert Stephan collected three hits, Adisson Pelupessy had two hits and an rbi while throwing 2.1 inning for his third save of the season. Ray Lambert went 6.2 innings allowing three runs for his third win of the year. -

March 01, 2016Ventura College baseball faced off with cross county rival Moorpark College at home and were undone by two late runs to fall 5-3. Nate Green went 8.2 innings allowing five runs, four earned on nine hits with 5 strikeouts. Tony Fonzo had two hits and a run scored. Adisson Pelupessy added two hit and a triple. Bryson Wallet collected a rbi double. -
Pirates Bats Cold as They Fall to Citrus
February 27, 2016The Ventura College baseball team dropped their third game in a row in tough fashion 2-1 to Citrus College. VC starter Zachary Martirano went 6.1 innings allowing just two runs over his outing, but was dealt the loss. Tony Fonzo and Vinny Avila each had doubles. Fonzo drove in the lone Pirate run. -
VC Baseball Falls In Extra Frames to Pasadena
February 25, 2016Ventura College baseball went to 11 innings, but were unable to finish off a win falling 8-5 to Pasadena City. The Pirates got nine hits in the game with Brison Cronenbold picking up two hits and two runs scored. Adisson Pelupessy had two and an RBI. Pelupessy went seven innings allowing five runs only two earned on 10 hits with one strikeout. -
Baseball Drops 1-0 Game at Hancock
February 23, 2016In their second Western State Conference North game of the year, Ventura College's baseball team snapped a four game winning streak with a 1-0 loss. Ventura collected five hits in the game and five walks, but left all ten base runners on in dropping the game. Ray Lambert went eight innings allowing just 3 hits, striking out nine hitters and walking two, but was handed the tough luck loss. -
Baseball Opens WSC North Play With Win Over Hancock
February 20, 2016Ventura College baseball team opened up their Western State Conference North schedule with a home game against Allan Hancock. After a week of offensive based wins, the Pirates relied on their pitching and defense to pick up a 2-1 victory. Starter Nate Green pitched into the eighth inning allowing one run on five hits with seven strikeouts. Tony Fonzo collected two more hits with Joey Sunia adding two hits including a double. Ryan Coker had an RBI single. -
Pirate Baseball's Bats Awaken to Pick Up Road Win
February 14, 2016The Ventura College baseball team wrapped up six straight road games in resounding fashion with a 17-9 win over West Hills Coalinga. The win is the Pirates third straight. Tony Fonzo went 5-5 on the day with two RBI's and three runs scored. Bryson Wallet went 4-5 with two RBI's, two runs scored, one walk and a double. Adisson Pelupessy was 3-4 with three RBI's and one run scored.
