
The VC baseball team closed its 2025 campaign with a 14-4 setback at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria Friday. Henry Borjas had three hits, including two doubles, with a pair of runs scored to lead Ventura while Tommy Castaneda and Caden Stillwell also recorded two hits each. Castaneda, Grant Rodriguez, Lucas Martinov and Brandon Contreras all batted in runs for the Pirates (17-22, 12-12).
Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Borjas in the top of the first inning to give Ventura an early 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs tied the game with a score in the bottom of the third then took full control with a nine-run fourth inning. Jacob Tostado scored for the Pirates in the top of the fifth on Castaneda's groundout to second, and Frederico Tiburtini crossed the plate in the top of the sixth on Contreras' RBI double.
Borjas hit an lead-off double in the seventh, then came in to score after Martinov drew a bases loaded walk three batters later.
The Pirates end the season at 17-22 overall, 12-12 in the Western State Conference standings.
