The Ventura College men's tennis team made a clean sweep of the weekend with a 6-3 victory over visiting Saddleback on Saturday afternoon. The win is the Pirates' third win in three successive days at the VC Tennis Center. Manu Rowe and Cruz Thayne were double winners for VC Saturday, with wins in Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively, and victories in doubles, as well.
Rowe won his No. 3 singles match 6-1, 6-1 and teamed up with Rodrigo Perdigao to win in No. 3 doubles, 9-7. Meanwhile, Thayne posted a win in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and paired with Bill Whitaker to win in No. 1 doubles, 8-4. Florent Auteuil was victorious in No. 6 singles, 7-6(5), 6-1 and the doubles team of Augustin Lestelle and Damon Mitchell won in the No. 2 slot, 8-6.
Ventura (6-1, 4-0) resumes Western State Conference play on Tuesday March 7 at Glendale.
