The Ventura College men's tennis team picked up their third Western State Conference win of the season with a 9-0 win over LA Pierce. The Pirates won all of their matches in singles play in straight sets. Corey Karen, Leonardo Santos and Diego Rodrigues won their matches without losing a point.
Ventura (5-0, 3-0) dominated the match against the Brahamas, first by claiming both of the contested doubles matches by scores of 8-1 and 8-2. Karen and Hamilton Walker teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles. Santos and Victor Ribeiro were winners at No. 2 doubles. LA Pierce forefeited at No. 3 doubles.
Hironori Koyanagi played only at No. 1 singles on the day, but claimed a straight set victory 6-1, 6-0 win. Karen won at No. 2 singles, as well Santos was a winner at No. 4 and Rodrigues was a winner at No. 5 singles each without losing a point in their matches.
The win leaves the Pirates undefeated in conference and undefeated on the season. Ventura will host Bakersfield on Tuesday Mar. 1 at 2:00 pm in their next match which is a WSC conference match.
