MEN'S BASKETBALL: The VC men's basketball team used a 16-3 run midway through the first half to take control of their 87-66 victory over Barstow College at the John J. Kennedy Classic at Pasadena City College Friday afternoon. Jon McMurry led five Pirates in double-figures with 17 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in the victory. Vondel Faniel, Ivan Dooley, Jalen Young, and Martel Tyler all netted 14 points each in the effort. Dennis Savoy pulled in seven boards for VC (4-3) as they ended a brief two-game losing streak.
Ventura will take on San Bernardino Valley Saturday Nov. 30 at 4:00 pm before completing the tournament against East Los Angeles at 1:00 pm on Saturday Dec. 1 in Pasadena.
