With a tradition like no other, the Ventura College men's basketball team will tip-off the 2014-15 season with its annual Midnight Madness intrasquad scrimmage Saturday night at midnight. The evening will begin at 10:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center with high school scrimmages and 3-point shooting and dunk contests.
Fourth-year head coach Joey Ramirez will welcome the latest version of the Pirates onto the AEC hardwoods at the stroke of midnight following a full evening of festivities.
High school scrimmages will begin the evening at 10:00 pm, following the Citrus Cup football game between Ventura and Moorpark at the VC Sportsplex. Buena, Rio Mesa, St. Bonaventure and Ventura high schools' boys teams will battle to begin the evening, followed by 3-point shooting and dunk contests featuring high school players and memberd of the 2014-15 Ventura College team.
The Pirates will take the floor at the stroke of midnight for a 30-minute intrasquad scrimmage, giving fans a preview of the upcoming season.
Admission for the evening's events is $5 for all fans.
VC will open the regular season with the We Play Hard Tip-Off Tournament November 6-8 at the Athletic Event Center.
