Ventura College point guard Aubri Smith has been named first-team All-State by the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The 5-foot-2 freshman from Buena High School has averaged 11.0 points, 5.7 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game for the Pirates, who posted a 25-5 regular season record.
Smith is the 36th player in program history to be named to the coach's association all-state team since the 1985-86 season. She is the 24th player in VC history to earn first-team honors.
Smith, who also earned MVP honors for the Western State Conference North Division, will lead her teammates into the CCCCAA SoCal Regional Semifinals on Wednesday as No. 4-seed Ventura hosts No. 5 Palomar at 7:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center.
