Jake Geringer, “Coach G”, enters his second season on the Pirates' coaching staff in 2024. He will coordinate VC's passing game and coach the quarterbacks this season.
Geringer brings a wide variety of experience to the Pirates' sideline. He has playing experience as a quarterback across multiple levels of collegiate football: Sacramento State (D1 FCS), Saddleback (JUCO), and Cal (D1 FBS). After graduating from UC Berkeley, Jake pursued a career in investment management for several years before transitioning to the manufacturing industry. He continues to work today in a Business Operations & Strategy role for a prominent access control manufacturer. Jake re-entered football in 2019 as a high school coach prior to joining the Pirates’ coaching staff.
From his experience as a player and coach, Jake brings a broad range of offensive knowledge to the Pirates’ offense including spread, pistol, air raid, and pro style philosophies.
With 18+ years of football experience as a player and coach at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels, Jake strives to develop and mentor athletes to be leaders amongst their peers, in the classroom, and in the community. He believes coaching is an act of service, and the service coaches provide is leadership. To be an effective leader, he always strives to be genuine and curious in all individuals’ well-being to build trust amongst every person in the program.
