Merrick Carter is in his 12th season as the Character Development Coach at Ventura College in 2023. Coach Carter provides and coordinates FCA meetings and one-on-one coaching for team members to sustain a high level of spiritual enthusiasm, character and focus.
His practical approach makes it easy for young people to relate and understand him as he addresses the issues that they face every day. The importance of a positive attitude being his primary focus, Coach Carter’s message provokes players to think about themselves from the inside out and challenges them to be the best they can be on an off the field.
Carter is an extraordinary role model and powerful motivator that has spoken to school administrators, parent groups, athletic teams, school assemblies, churches, and at community events to motivate and energize in different capacities.
Coach Carter served eight years in the United States Marine Corps. During that time he had the opportunity to see and live in different parts of the world. He received his bachelor's degree (1995), master's degree (1997) and Ph. D. (1999) from Golden Grain Bible College.
He currently serves as the Senior Pastor at Pacific Coast Ministries located in Oxnard. He also serves as the Chaplain for the Port Hueneme Police Department.
