Pirate Student Athletes Strong in the ClassroomAugust 19, 2022Ventura College student athletes excelled once again in the classroom in 2021-22, achieving an overall 3.26 grade point average in the fall and following that up with a solid 3.19 overall GPA in the spring. A total of 123 Pirates earned Dean's List honors in the fall of 2021 with a 3.5 GPA or better while taking in 12 or more units of study, with 51 student athletes recording a perfect 4.0 GPA. In the spring, 112 VC student athletes were featured on the Dean's List with 41 posting perfect GPA's.

Pirate Women Compete at CCCAA State ChampionshipsMay 07, 2022Four Pirate women competed at the CCCAA State Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday through Saturday at East Los Angeles College. The quartet of Allison Harris, Grace Given, Shelby Jackson and Lauren Pierce earned a total of 43 points for VC, good for a tie for 21st place overall among 39 scoring teams.

VC Women 3rd, Men 5th at WSC ChampionshipsApril 23, 2022The Ventura College women's swimming and diving team finished third in the 10-team Western State Conference Championships concluded Saturday at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. The Pirate men, meanwhile, finished fifth of nine competing schools at the three-day meet. Grace Given and Shebly Jackson led the Pirates' efforts in the pool for the women while Collin Spargur and Mattia Braccini led the men. Braccini was named the conference's male diver of the year.

Harris and Pierce Qualify for State, Braccini Wins WSCApril 16, 2022VC's Allison Harris qualified for the CCCAA State Championships in the 1m and 3m diving and Lauren Pierce punched her ticket to state in the 1m competition at the Western State Conference and SoCal Diving Championships at El Camino College in Torrance Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, Mattia Braccini claimed first place in the WSC diving championships in the 3m event. Both the WSC and SoCal competitions were held simultaneously.

Pirate Swimmers Compete at ARC Pentathlon in SacramentoApril 08, 2022The Ventura College men's and women's swimmers traveled to Sacramento to compete at the American River College Pentathlon on Friday. Collin Spargur led the effort on the men's side with his best effort in the 50-yard freestlye while Shelby Jackson led the VC women earning her best finish in the 100-yard butterfly.

Andrews, Cunningham lead VC Men to 2nd Place at WSC #3April 01, 2022Michael Andrews won the 1m diving competition and Janson Cunningham claimed gold in the 3m diving event to lead the Pirate men to a second place finish at the Western State Conference No. 3 meet at the Ventura Aquatic Center Friday. Meanwhile Lauren Pierce and Allison Harris each won a silver and a bronze in diving to lead the Ventura women at the five-team meet.

VC Swimmers 4th, 6th at WSC #2 in SLOMarch 19, 2022The VC women's and men's swimming and diving teams finished fourth and sixth, respectively, at the second Western State Conference meet of the season at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo Saturday. Lauren Pierce claimed gold in the 1m diving and Allison Harris won the 3m diving for the women while Michael Andrews led the Pirate men winning both the 1m and 3m diving events.

Pirate Swim & Dive Teams Compete at Mt. SAC InvitationalFebruary 26, 2022The VC men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the three-day Mt. San Antonio Invitational Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Walnut. The Pirate men finished fourth out of 15 competing teams while the Ventura women were eighth of 19 teams. Grace Given earned the Pirates' lone gold medal of the meet and earned points in two more individual events while Shelby Jackson placed in six events. Meanwhile, Mattia Braccini and Zane Hermann placed in four events for VC.

Ventura Competes in WSC #1 Meet at LA ValleyFebruary 17, 2022The VC men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in the first Western State Conference meet of the season at Los Angeles Valley College Thursday with the men tying for second out of 4 teams and the women coming in fourth of the five teams participating. Colin Spargur led the Pirate men with an individual gold and was part of a the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team. Allison Harris led the women with a pair of silver medal performances in the 1m and 3m diving events, respectfully.

Pirate Swimmers Combine for 4th at Larry Baratte InvitationalFebruary 11, 2022The Pirates' men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2022 season Friday at the Western State Conference Larry Baratte Invitational at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Ventura's squads placed a combined fourth place of the nine competing teams in the meet named for VC Hall of Fame coach Larry Baratte, who passed away last year. Diver Michael Andrews won the men's 1m diving competition and the men's 200-yard freestyle relay team also claimed gold.

Updates for Spectators at Home Ventura College Athletic EventsJanuary 12, 2022The recent surge in Covid-19 due to the Omicron variant has changed the landscape of our intercollegiate athletics at Ventura College. To insure an environment that is as safe as possible for student athletes, coaches, support personnel and fans, VC Athletics is issuing the following reminders and new guidelines for those in attendance at our home basketball games and spring athletic contests.
