Under ideal scoring conditions at Antelope Valley Country Club in Palmdale, the Pirate golf team tied a season best with a team score of 385 to finish in the runner-up spot at the Western State Conference No. 5 match hosted by Antelope Valley College on Monday. VC had four golfers in the top 11 places, with ties, led by 3-over par 75 scores by Steen Zeman and Nicholas Burns.
Zeman and Burns tied for fifth place overall while Evan Colborn tied for eighth with a 4-over 76. Zack Garboski was tied for 11th at 77.
Other Ventura golfers included Jonas Slattum who carded an 82 and Nicolai Cascione at 90.
Canyons won the event with an impressive team score of 373, followed by the Pirates, then Glendale another 17 shots back.
VC hosts the WSC No. 6 match played simultaneously with the Southern California Preview at the Olivas Links Golf Club on Monday March 21. Olivas will also be the site of this year's Southern California Regionals on May 9.
