Veloz and Hiott Fall in Opening Round of State Championships
May 07, 2016The Ventura College women's beach volleyball team experienced great team success in their first season of competition, but this weekend brought a chance for individual glory. The No. 1 team of Tori Hiott and Sarah Veloz qualified for a shot at a CCCAA State Individual Championship, but faced a tough road ahead. -
Pirates Beach Volleyball Falls in So Cal Playoffs
May 03, 2016The Ventura College women's beach volleyball team in their first year of competitive play picked up a berth in the State playoffs. Traveling to Grossmont College the Pirates took part in a regional consisting of VC, Grossmont and Fullerton. The Pirates were victorious in their opening match of the day against Fullerton by a score of 3-2. They then took on Grossmont with a berth in the CCCAA State Final Four on the line. Ventura played a tightly contested match, but fell 5-0 against Grossmont.

Beach Volleyball Headed to SoCal Regional Playoffs
May 01, 2016In their inaugural season, the Ventura College beach volleyball team is headed to the Southern California Regional Playoffs. VC will hed to Grossmont College on Tuesday May 3 for a round-robin contest against the host Griffins and Fullerton College. Play will begin at 12:30pm in El Cajon.

Veloz and Hiott Advance to State Beach Volleyball Championships
April 29, 2016The Ventura College beach volleyball team of Sarah Veloz and Tori Hiott advanced to the CCCAA State Championships in play Friday at the Western State Conference Championships at El Camino College. The Pirates' top-seeded team defeated a team from Bakersfield College 21-10, 21-11 in the round of 16 to qualify for state.

Beach Volleyball Finishes the Regular Season With a Split
April 22, 2016The Ventura College women's beach volleyball team finished their first year as a competitive sport by splitting a pair of matches. Ventura dropped the opener to the day against host Grossmont by a score of 5-0. They responded with a 5-0 win over Rio Hondo. Cassandra Lacanilao and Cristal Gonzalez won three sets on the day, as did Kierra Joyner and Braxton Jessie.

Beach Volleyball Continues Strong First Season
April 08, 2016In their inaugural season the Ventura College beach volleyball team continues to play impressive volleyball. In a home contest against Antelope Valley the Pirates picked up a 5-0 win over the Marauders. They then took on Santa Barbara City College's club team in an exhibition match which they dropped 3 sets to two. The current VC student-athletes of the week Braxton Jessie and Kierra Joyner won both of their matches.

Beach Volleyball Impressive in Pair of WSC Wins
April 01, 2016The Ventura College women's beach volleyball team dominated a pair of matches in Western State Conference play. In the opener the Pirates took down Antelope Valley by a score of 5-0 and then followed it up with another shut out win over Los Angeles Pierce 5-0. Ventura's No. 1, 2, 3 and 5 teams did not drop a set on the day while their No. 4 team lost just one set while winning both of their matches.

Pirates Beach Volleyball Splits Matches
March 25, 2016The Ventura College beach volleyball team took to the sand at El Camino and was able to pick up a split of their two matches on the day. In the opener VC picked up a 5-0 win over Rio Hondo. They faced off with El Camino in the second match of the day and dropped a 5-0 decision. Paris Dosch and Brittney Mukhar were able to win one match and then picked up a set win in their contest against El Camino.

Women's Beach Volleyball Wins Two Matches
March 18, 2016Hosting Bakersfield and Los Angeles Pierce the Ventura College women's beach volleyball team picked up a pair of wins. In the opener Ventura took down Bakersfield by a score of 5-0 and then in their second match of the day VC was a winner over LAP 4-1. Sarah Veloz and Tori Hiott teamed up as the Pirates No. 1 team and won all four of their sets on the day. Cassandra Lacanilao was paired with Cristal Gonzalez and they won all four of their sets on the day.

Beach Volleyball Wins Two Matches in Inaugural Home Contests
March 11, 2016Ventura College women's beach volleyball hosted their first ever home contest. Playing against Antelope Valley College and Moorpark College club team, the Pirates earned two victories. VC downed Antelope Valley by a score of 5-0 winning all ten sets contested. Then in the second match of the day Ventura defeated MC club 4-1. Ventura's top team of Sarah Veloz and Tori Hiott won both of their matches on the day.

Pirates Beach Volleyball Takes to the Sand for First Time
March 05, 2016Ventura College beach volleyball participated in their first contests as they traveled to California State University Northridge for a pair of matches. Ventura took on El Camino College in their first ever Beach Volleyball contest and dropped a 5-0 decision. Then following the opening game VC took on California State University Northridge in an exhibtion match. Several of the VC beach players were members for the back to back regional playoff teams during indoor season.

Ventura College to Add Beach Volleyball in 2016
August 12, 2015Ventura College will be adding women's Sand Volleyball as a sanctioned sport in the spring of 2016. Indoor volleyball head coach Brad Lyans, and assistant Sabine Stork will direct the program in its inaugural season beginning in March, 2016. The Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) held its first official season last spring, making it the 24th CCCAA sanctioned sport.
