Pirate Student Athletes Strong in the ClassroomAugust 19, 2022Ventura College student athletes excelled once again in the classroom in 2021-22, achieving an overall 3.26 grade point average in the fall and following that up with a solid 3.19 overall GPA in the spring. A total of 123 Pirates earned Dean's List honors in the fall of 2021 with a 3.5 GPA or better while taking in 12 or more units of study, with 51 student athletes recording a perfect 4.0 GPA. In the spring, 112 VC student athletes were featured on the Dean's List with 41 posting perfect GPA's.

Pirate Women Earn WSC HonorsJuly 19, 2022On the heels of earning their first Western State Conference team championship in 38 years, the Pirates' women's track and field team also claimed the conference's two top individual awards. VC' Stina Johansson and Charlotte Allison were named the WSC's Female Track and Field Athletes of the Year, respectively by the conference coaches following the season.

Johansson, Allison Lead Pirate Women to Top-10 FinishMay 21, 2022Stina Johansson and Charlotte Allison each won gold medals at the CCCAA State Track and Field Championships Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College earning first team All-American honors in leading the VC women's team to a tie for ninth place overall. Citllali Cortez also earned a first-team All-American honors as the Pirate women closed out Ventura's 2021-22 athletic calendar.

More Pirate Track & Field Athletes Qualify for StateMay 13, 2022The Ventura College track and field teams competed in the Southern California Regional Finals on Friday at Moorpark with more Pirates punching their tickets for the CCCAA State Championships to be held May 20-21 at Mt. San Antonio College. Six women's athletes qualified for state, led by Stina Johansson's gold in the 300m steeplechase.

Pirate Track Competes in SoCal RegionalsMay 06, 2022The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Southern California Preliminaries on Friday at Moorpark College with a handful events holding finals. The Pirate women finished the day in fifth place including points form The SoCal Heptathlon event held last month. Stina Johansson, qualified for state in the 10k while Cassandra O'Reilly qualified for state with an 'A' standard throw earlier in the season in the shot put. O'Reilly and Charlotte Allison had previously qualified for state in the heptathlon.

Pirate Women Claim First WSC Title Since 1984.April 29, 2022On the strength of 11 individual Western State Conference gold medals, including five from Stina Johansson, two each from Ariana Vera and Charlotte Allison along with golds by Cassandra O'Reilly and Citllali Cortez, the Ventura College women's track and field team captured its first WSC team championship in 38 years Friday in Santa Monica. The VC men finished seventh in the conference finals as both teams turn their attention to the SoCal Preliminaries coming up May 6.

Pirates Compete at WSC PreliminariesApril 22, 2022The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Western State Conference Preliminaries Friday at the College o fthe Canyons in Santa Clarita. Most of the competition was about qualifying for the conference finals on April 29, but five events were contested to the end for both the men and women. Charlotte Allison and Stina Johansson claimed golds for the Pirate women while Josh Weinerth grabbed a bronze for the Ventura men.

Mt. SAC Relays Provides Early State Test for Pirate Track & FieldApril 09, 2022The Pirates' track and field teams competed in the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday, putting up strong marks in an early state championship preview in some key events. The VC women's 4x100m relay team of Aubrianna Smith, Ariana Vera, Citlalli Cortez and Cassandra O' Reailly ran a season best, and they also had standout performances individually. The Men's 4x100m relay quartet of Jaedon Rogers, Ethan Figlio, Isaiah Martinez Spence and Julian Gibson also ran a strong race at Ventura's final tune-up before the Western Satte Conference Preliminaries.

VC's O'Reilly, Allison Shine at SoCal HeptathlonApril 06, 2022VC track and field athletes Cassandra O'Reilly and Charlotte Allison produced a great results over two days of competition Tuesday at Wednesday at the Southern California Heptathlon at El Camino College in Torrance. O'Reilly had lifetime best marks in four events and had a competition-best throw in the shot put by five feet to place sixth in the event. Allison, meanwhile, had four lifetime bests in the seven events and placed second in the high jump to come in seventh overall. Both qualified for the state championships to be held May 20-21.

VC Women Tie for 1st at WSC-Coast Track MeetApril 01, 2022The Ventura College women's track and field team had an amazing day Friday, earning 151 points to claim a first place tie with host Cuesta at the Western State Conference Coast meet in San Luis Obispo. Stina Johansson was a triple winner on the day while Charlotte Allison claimed two golds. Aubrianna Smith, Ariana Vera and Citllali Cortez also produced first place finishes. Danilo Juarez recorded the Pirate men's lone gold medal on the day.

Pirates Compete at APU's Franson ClassicMarch 19, 2022The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Franson Classic at Asuza Pacific University on Saturday with more solid results from multiple athletes. Aubriana Smith and Ariana Vera headlined accomplishments on the women's side in the 100m and 200m, respectively. Meanwhile Jaedon Rogers continued to excel in the triple jump and Ramiro Mateos made a strong debut in the 3000m steeplechase for the Pirate men.

Ventura Track & Field Competes at Occidental ClassicMarch 12, 2022The VC men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Occidental Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic Saturday in Eagle Rock with several season-best performances. Jaedon Rogers won silver in the men's long jump against a host of two-year and four-year schools while the women's 4x100m relay team of Aubrianna Smith, Ariana Vera, Nicole Rivera Cortez and Citlalli Cortez finished fifth overall.

VC Has Record-Setting and State Qualifying PerformancesMarch 11, 2022A trio of athletes from the VC women's track and field team produced impressive results at the UCSB Invitational in Santa Barbara this week. Stina Johansson crushed the school record in the 3k steeplechase by nearly 47 seconds while Charlotte Allison and Cassandra O'Reilly both hit automatic qualifying marks for the Southern California Championships in the two-day, seven-event heptathlon.

Men's and Women's Track & Field Each Second at WSC North MeetFebruary 25, 2022The VC men's and women's track & field teams both eplaces second of six competing teams at the Western State Conference North meet Friday at Bakersfield College. Charlotte Allison claimed three individual golds and Stina Johansson won two races to lead the Pirate women. Meanwhile, Jaedon Rogers won an individual gold and also claimed a bronze finish for the Ventura men.

Pirate track & Field Opens Season at WSC RelaysFebruary 18, 2022Conditions were great in Lancaster Friday as the VC men's and women's track and field teams opened their 2022 campaign at the Western State Conference Relays hosted by Antelope Valley College. Cassandra O'Reilly and Charlotte Allison both claimed golds for the Ventura women while Jaedon Rogers pcked up a win for the men as a number of athletes turned in solid performances on opening day.

Updates for Spectators at Home Ventura College Athletic EventsJanuary 12, 2022The recent surge in Covid-19 due to the Omicron variant has changed the landscape of our intercollegiate athletics at Ventura College. To insure an environment that is as safe as possible for student athletes, coaches, support personnel and fans, VC Athletics is issuing the following reminders and new guidelines for those in attendance at our home basketball games and spring athletic contests.
