Pirates Women's Track Places 12th at StateMay 20, 2016The Ventura College men and women's track & Field programs capped of their 2016 seasons at the California Community College Championships held at San Diego Mesa College. The women's team represented by four women placed 12th overall among the 41 teams that scored. The 12th place finish and point total was the highest a Pirate women's team has achieved since 1997.

Greenlaw and Colvin Set School Records, Advance to StateMay 14, 2016The Ventura College men's and women's track and field teams participated in the So Cal Championships. Alisha Greenlaw and Danielle Colvin were able to advance. to the Community College State Championships. The pair not only qualified for the opportunity to compete for a state title, but also set school records along the way.

Eight Pirates Qualify for So Cal FinalsMay 07, 2016Ventura College enters into the penultimate competition of the 2016 Track and Field season sending eight individuals and two relays to the Southern California Regional Finals, held at Antelope Valley College. This meet serves as the prelude to the year ending State Championships to be held on the campus of Mesa College, May 20-21st. Alisha Greenlaw qualified for her second consecutive 100 meter hurdle final running second in her heat with the second fastest time of the nine women advancing.

Greenlaw Paces Pirates Women to Third Place FinishApril 29, 2016Lead by Alisha Greenlaw's six event day, the Ventura College Pirates womens track and field team placed third at the Western State Conference track and field Championships held at Bakersfield College. West LA won the team title with 177 points, followed by Canyons with 167 points and the Pirates with 106.5. VC finished ahead of Bakersfield (81), Glendale (54), Cuesta (43), Allan Hancock (34), Santa Barbara (30), Antelope Valley (25), Santa Monica (23), and Moorpark (14).

Pirates Track and Field Show Well at WSC PreliminariesApril 22, 2016The Ventura College Men's and Women's track teams traveled to College of the Canyons for the Western State Conference championship preliminaries. This is the first step for track and field athletes as they strive to reach the state championships next month. The majority of the events contested were qualifiers for next week's WSC finals, but five events were contested as the events finals. The long jump, high jump, shot put, javelin and 10k for mens' and women's served as finals advancing the top six in each event to the Southern California Regionals May 7th at Antelope Valley College.

Griffith Shines in Rain Soaked Vaquero InvitationalApril 08, 2016The Ventura College men's and women's track and field teams braved the elements in the First ever Vaquero Classic. Tristan Griffith overcame the wet and blustery conditions at Glendale College to remain unbeaten against conference opponents Saturday. As has been his race model, Griffith trailed up to the half-way mark of the 400 meters, then made his customary move with 200 meters to go and was never caught, winning by almost a full second. His time of 48.80 was not his best, but competing well is always the first thing in mind.

Women's Track and Field Bring Home First Place FinishApril 01, 2016The Ventura College men and women's track teams traveled to Cuesta College for the annual WSC Coastal clash, featuring host Cuesta, and Ventura, West LA, Allan Hancock, Moorpark, Santa Barbara. Just as they did February 19th when they hosted the first of the two scoring meets, the Pirates came out on top. The women scored 186 points to outdistance West LA (124), Cuesta (68), Moorpark (60), Allan Hancock (47), and Santa Barbara (30).

Pirates Mine Gold at the Easter Relays.March 25, 2016Ventura College track and field took it's shortest road trip of the year traveling to Santa Barbara College for the annual Easter Relays. The Pirates garnered nine medals with four of those coming as gold medals. Alyssa Carrillo got the day off to a winning start by taking first place in the women's hammer throw competition with a 123 foot performance. Carrillo would return later to win the shot put with a lifetime best of 36'7"..

Pirates Improve Area Rankings at Antelope ValleyMarch 18, 2016The men and women's Verntura College track and field teams competed at the Antelope Valley Spring Invitational, on a beautiful sunny afternoon for track on the Lancaster campus. Several Pirates distinguished themselves but the day was highlighted by the school record in the women's pole vault by sophomore Marissa Tobin. Tobin improved the mark she set last year from 10'6 to 10'8" with several close attempts at 11 feet. The effort moved her to the number one spot in the conference and a top five in the state.

Greenlaw, Griffith Highlight Rain Soaked WeekendMarch 11, 2016The Ventura College Men and Women's track teams traveled to Occidental College for their annual Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic. The early events were able to avoid the threat of rainheld giving Alisha Greenlaw a chance to shine.

Pirates Women Claim First in Home Track OpenerFebruary 26, 2016Ventura College's Men and women's track & field teams welcomed Glendale College, Santa Monica College, West LA College, Moorpark College, and Antelope Valley College to the Sport Plex for the annual Western State Conference South 6-way meet. On the men's side, Glendale College took the top spot with 151 points, followed by Antelope Valley (111), West LA (101), Moorpark (79), Santa Monica (50), and Ventura (47). On the women's side, fueled by ten first place finishes, the Pirates took the top spot of the other five schools scoring 176 points. West LA (146), Antelope Valley (82), Glendale (63), Santa Monica (29), and Moorpark (28) rounded out the scoring.

Pirates Set School Record at WSC RelaysFebruary 19, 2016A Ventura College track and fiel record highleted the day as the Pirate tracke and field team hosted the Western State Conference Relays. All eleven conference school participated in the annual affair which provides for an early season test for all participants. VC's performance was topped by men's sprint relay team of Christopher Williams, Leo Ramirez, Aaron Guidry and Tristan Griffith with their record time of 1:34.42, breaking the previous record of 1:34.75 in 2010.

Pirate Track and Field Show Well at Bakersfield Battle of the RegionsFebruary 12, 2016The Ventura College men and women's track and field teams traveled to Bakersfield College for the annual Battle of the Regions, highlighting teams from Norcal and Socal. The Pirates were paced on the track by newcomers Tristan Griffith and Tiara Litonjua, and in the field by Marissa Tobin and Justin Coert.
