Pirate Swimmers Dominate Relays in Strong Showing
April 05, 2025Ventura College's men's and women's swimming and diving teams dominated the relays at the three-day Pasadena Invitational, wit the men running away with a first place finish and the women coming in a strong second in the team competition. Jaiden Monroe posted the fastest time this season in the state in winning the 100-yard backstroke and the men and women both won all five relays in their respective competitions. -
Pirate Swimming Second at WSC No. 3
March 28, 2025The VC men's and women's swimming and diving teams each finished second Friday at the Western State Conference No. 3 meet at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria. Jaiden Monroe led the men with a apir of gold medals and a silver while Olivia Badaracco claimed three individual third-place finishes.

Pirate Men and Women Both 3rd at WSC #2
March 15, 2025The Pirates' men's and women's swimming and diving teams both came in third of nine teams at the Western State Conference No. 2 meet at Santa Monica Saturday. Jaiden Monroe paced the men's team with three gold medal swims while Olivia Badaracco added a first- and a second-place finish to her individual accomplishments. VC's 400-yard medley relay team of Nick Santander, Michael Ramirez, Luigi Travi and Monroe also claimed a first-place finish.

VC Women 3rd, Men 4th at Riverside Invitational
March 08, 2025The VC women's swimming and diving team placed third and the men came in fourth Friday and Saturday at the Riverside Invitational. Olivia Badaracco led the women with three individual golds and a bronze while Alex Williams struck gold twice. Jaiden Monroe had the men's team only first place finish and he also had an invidudual runner-up finish.

VC Men's and Women's Swimmers Compete at Mt. SAC
March 01, 2025The Ventrua College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed well Friday and Saturday at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational wit hthe men placing sixth of 19 teams and the women coming in ninth of 21 schools. Jaiden Monroe was the top scorer for the men with four Top-7 finishes while Olivia Badaracco led the women with VC's lone gold of the meet.

Pirate Men and Women Each First at WSC #1 Meet
February 21, 2025Ventura College's men's and women's swimming and diving teams each finished first Friday at the Western State Conference No. 1 meet at Los Anglees Valley. Jaiden Monroe led the VC men with three individual golds and Olivia Badaracco finished first twice to lead the women. The Pirate men totaled 234 points to run away from second place Valley with 131 while the women earned 152 points, edging out the Monarchs with 148.

VC Athletics 13th in California in NATYCAA Cup
August 12, 2024The Ventura College Athletic Department claimed its 14th Top-13 finish in 19 years, placing 13th in California in the 2023-24 all-sports National Association of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup standings. Pirate Athletics totaled 106 points overall, besting its 105.5 points earned in 2022-23 that placed 12th. Ventura was also 17th for the second straight year in the Daktronics Cup Standings with two-years schools from California, Oregon and Washington.

VC Lists 70 transfers to 4-Year Schools
August 01, 2024The Ventura College Athletic Department is proud to announce the transfer of 71 student athletes to four-year schools following their time with the Pirates. 48 of those transfers plan to continue their sport with 34 earning athletic scholarships. The VC class of 2024 will transfer to 48 different schools in 19 different states across the country. Additionally, 17 of the Pirate alumni have earned academic scholarships at their new schools.

Jacobus, Montano Shine for Pirates at State Meet
May 04, 2024VC sophomore Ayden Jacobus and freshman Ella Montano each turned in outstanding performances at the 3C2A State Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday through Saturday at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. Jacobus was named the Co-Men's Diver of the Year with a gold and a silver medal while Montano placed in three events, each in the A-Final. Freshman Wyatt Dingman also placed in both diving events for Ventura at the championships.

VC Completes WSC Championships with Strong Performances
April 20, 2024The VC men's and women's swimming and diving teams produced more strong performances Saturday to conclude the Western State Conference Championships at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Ella Montano claimed her second gold medal of the meet Saturday while Nick Santander won silver. Michael Soho and Luigi Trave each claimed bronze medals Saturday to lead the VC men to a second place team finish. The Pirate women came in fourth in the championships.

Pirates Continue Strong Performances at WSC Finals
April 19, 2024The VC men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued to produced strong performances Friday on the second day of the Western State Conference Championships at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Ella Montano won gold in the 100-yard breast stroke while Cameron Habib and Nick Santander each claimed silver in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke events, respectively.

VC Men 2nd, Women 4th After Day 1 of WSC Finals
April 18, 2024The Ventura College men's and women's swimming and diving teams are hosting the Western State Conference Championships with the men in second place and the women in fourth after the first of three days of competition at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Michael Soho and Ella Montano led their respective teams, each earning individual silver medals while swimming legs on two different relay teams for the Pirates.

Jacobus Claims SoCal Diving Gold, Dingman Qualifies for State
April 12, 2024VC's Ayden Jacobus won two gold medals Friday, winning the Southern California 1m and 3m diving championships. The wins also combined for conference gold in the upcoming Western State Conference Championships next week. Wyatt Dingman, meanwhile, also qualified for the state championships with his performance in the two events in Long Beach.

April 06, 2024The Pirates' men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the Pasadena Invitational held at East Los Angeles College Thursday through Saturday with the men placing third of nine teams and the women coming in seventh of 10. Carlos Gonzalez scored in four individual events for the VC men and Sarah Glassman led the Pirate women scoring in five individual events.

Pirate Swimmers Travel to NorCal for Miyashiro Invite
March 23, 2024Ventura's men's and women's swimming and diving teams made the trek to Northern California for the weekend to compete in the Bob Miyashiro Invitational at San Rosa Junior College. Ayden Jacobus led the men's effort winning the 1m and 3m diving events while Carlos Gonzalez scored in three individual races. Cassidy Yanca was tops for the women scoring in two individual events and Sarah Glassman placed in both diving competitions.

February 23, 2024The Pirates' men's and women's swimming and diving teams had a solid performance Friday at the Western State Conference No. 1 meet at Santa Monica Friday with the men winning the five-team competition and the women coming in third. Cameron Habib led the VC men with a pair of gold medal performances while Elle Montano also finished first in a pair of individual events. Luigi Travi, Merrick Giles and Michael Soho also won events for the men.

Pirates' Swim & Dive Teams Open '24 at Larry Baratte Invite
February 10, 2024The Ventura College men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their 2024 season Saturday hosting the Western State Conference Larry Baratte Invitational at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Wyatt Dingman and Ella Montano both produced gold medal performances to lead the way for VC. The Pirate men finished fourth out of nine competing teams while the Ventura women were fifth of 10 teams.

Pirate Student Athletes Prominent on Dean's Lists for 22-23
August 07, 2023Ventura College student athletes excelled once again in the classroom in 2022-23, achieving an overall 3.29 grade point average in the fall and following that up with a 3.19 overall GPA in the spring semester. A total of 108 Pirates achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher, earning mention on the Dean's List in the fall 2022 term while taking in 12 or more units of study, with 53 student athletes recording a perfect 4.0 GPA. In spring 2023, 110 VC student athletes were named on the Dean's List with 45 posting perfect GPA's.

May 06, 2023The Ventura College women's and men's swimming and diving teams closed the 2023 season competing at the CCCAA State Championships Thursday through Saturday at East Los Angeles College. Allison Donnelly led the way for the women earning points in three individual events, including a sixth place finish in the 400-yard individual medley. Ayden Jacobus placed in both the 1m and 3m diving competitions for the men.

Jackson Sets Record on Final Day of WSC Finals
April 22, 2023Shelby Jackson highlighted the final day of the Western State Conference championships with a new school record in the 200-yard butterfly as Ventura's women's swimming and diving team placed third and the men finished seventh in the three-day affair at LA Valley. Jackson broke the record in her morning qualifier and claimed second in the finals for the women's best finish of the day while Carlos Gonzalez led the men for the third consecutive day.

Donnelly Breaks School Record at WSC Day 2
April 21, 2023Ventura's Allison Donnelly set a new school record in the 400-yard individual medley to highlight day two of the Western State Conference Championships at LA Valley. Her third place finish in the event was the best individual performance for the Pirate women while Carlos Gonzalez once again led the VC men touching in seventh place in the same event. Ventura's women remained third in the standings and the men were seventh after the second of three days of competition.

April 20, 2023Athletes from VC's men's and women's swimming and diving team competed on the first day o fthe Western State Conference Championships Thursday at LA Valley College. The Pirate women were in third in the standings that included last week's diving competitions while the Ventura men were seventh. Carlos Gonzalez had the best finish for the men i the 500-yard freestyle while Shelby Jackson had the best finish for the women n the same event.

Piratee Divers Win WSC Crowns, Qualify for State
April 14, 2023Pirate diver Ayden Jacobus won both the men's 1m and 3m diving events and Allison Harris claimed gold in the 3m at the Western State Conference Championships held in conjunction with the Southern California Regionals Friday at Cypress College. Both qualified for the CCCAA State Championships next month in the 1m and 3m competitions. Meanwhile, Kendal Santos qualified for state in both events and Lauren Pierce still has a chance to compete at state in 1m diving.

Swim & Dive Competes at WSC #3, PCC Invite
April 07, 2023Ventura's men's and women's swimming and diving teams bookended Spring Break with the Western State Conference #3 meet at Canyons March 31 followed by the Pasadena Invitational April 6-7. The Pirates women finished first in the WSC competition, defeating three other WSC foes as both squads posted some impressive numbers in each meet. Allison Donnelly and Allison Harris have led the VC women while Carlos Gonzalez has been solid for the Pirate men.

March 18, 2023The Ventura College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the Western State Conference No. 2 meet at Los Angeles Valley Saturday with the women placing third and the men fifth overall. Pirate divers paces both teams winning all four diving events. Ayden Jacobs claimed two golds for the men with wins in the 1m and 3m diving events while Allison Harris won the 1m and Kendal Santos claimed the 3m diving competition.

March 11, 2023The VC women's swimming and diving team finished third of nine teams at the Riverside Invitational held Friday and Saturday March 10-11. The Pirate men were seventh as a team in the two-day meet. Allison Harris led the women with a pair of gold medals in the 1m and 3m diving events and Allison Donnelly had four individual Top-6 finishes. Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Andrews led the Ventura men.

Swimming & Diving Opens Season in Larry Baratte WSC Preview
February 10, 2023The Pirates' men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their 2023 seasons at the Larry baratte Western State Conference Preview at the Ventura Aquatic Center. VC's women placed third overall and the men came in sixth in the meet named for the late Hall of Fame Ventura College swim coach. VC's trio of women divers, Kendal Santos, Allison Harris and Lauren Pierce, along with Michael Andrews and Ayden Jacobus for the men had strong season debuts, as did Shelby Jackson and Allison Donnelly for the women and Carlos Gonzalez for the men.

August 19, 2022Ventura College student athletes excelled once again in the classroom in 2021-22, achieving an overall 3.26 grade point average in the fall and following that up with a solid 3.19 overall GPA in the spring. A total of 123 Pirates earned Dean's List honors in the fall of 2021 with a 3.5 GPA or better while taking in 12 or more units of study, with 51 student athletes recording a perfect 4.0 GPA. In the spring, 112 VC student athletes were featured on the Dean's List with 41 posting perfect GPA's.

Pirate Women Compete at CCCAA State Championships
May 07, 2022Four Pirate women competed at the CCCAA State Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday through Saturday at East Los Angeles College. The quartet of Allison Harris, Grace Given, Shelby Jackson and Lauren Pierce earned a total of 43 points for VC, good for a tie for 21st place overall among 39 scoring teams.

VC Women 3rd, Men 5th at WSC Championships
April 23, 2022The Ventura College women's swimming and diving team finished third in the 10-team Western State Conference Championships concluded Saturday at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. The Pirate men, meanwhile, finished fifth of nine competing schools at the three-day meet. Grace Given and Shebly Jackson led the Pirates' efforts in the pool for the women while Collin Spargur and Mattia Braccini led the men. Braccini was named the conference's male diver of the year.
