VC freshman Ayden Jacobus won the Western State Conference 1m and 3m diving events Friday at the conference championships and SoCal Regionals in Cypress. He also qualified for the CCCAA State Finals in both competitions.

Pirate diver Ayden Jacobus won both the men's 1m and 3m diving events and Allison Harris claimed gold in the 3m at the Western State Conference Championships held in conjunction with the Southern California Regionals Friday at Cypress College. Both qualified for the CCCAA State Championships next month in the 1m and 3m competitions. Meanwhile, Kendal Santos qualified for state in both events and Lauren Pierce still has a chance to compete at state in 1m diving.

In the morning session, Jacobus totaled a score of 189.7 over six dives to win the conference crown in the 3m event. He placed fourth among the Southern California divers, qualifying him for state. Later, he posted a mark of 197.05 in the 1m competition, also placing fourth in SoCal while capturing his second WSC gold.

The women competed in the 1m event in the morning, with Harris taking silver in the WSC and placing fifth in the regionals. Santos claimed bronze in the conference and placed eighth overall while Pierce was ninth in the regional and fourth in the WSC competition. Harris and Santos both qualified for state while Pierce still has a chance to compete in May.

In the 3m competition, Harris accumulated a score of 164.45 to capture the WSC title and place fourth in SoCal and Santos placed third and eighth, respectively. Pierce came in fourth in the WSC and 10th in SoCal. Both Harris and Santos will compete at state in the 3m diving.

Ventura's swimming and diving teams next will compete at the WSC Championships held Thursday-aturday, April 19-21 at Los Angeles Valley College.
