Pirate Swimmers Solid at State, Men Earn 19th Straight Top-10May 07, 2016The Ventura College men's and women's swim teams had a solid showing at the CCCAA State Championships held at East Los Angeles College Thursday through Saturday. The Pirate men earned 106 points, good for a ninth place finish overall among the 44 participating teams, the program's 19th straight Top-10 performance. Meanwhile the Pirate women scored 27 points to place 24th of the 44 teams.

Pirate Men Top WSC Swimming, Women Finish Strong SecondApril 23, 2016The Ventura College men's swim team ended the Western State Conference Championships Saturday in a familiar place. the Pirates claimed their 13th WSC title in the past 14 years at the end of the three-day meet at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. Meanwhile the Pirate women finished a strong second place in the championships.

Men's and Women's Swimming Continues Strong Performance at WSCApril 22, 2016The Ventura College men's and women's swimming teams continued their strong performances on day two of the Western State Conference Championships at Cuesta College Friday. The Pirate men sit in first place with one day remaining in the meet with the VC women sitting strongly in second.

Pirate Men First, Women Second after Day 1 of WSC ChampionshipsApril 21, 2016The Ventura College men's swim team raced out to the early lead, and the VC women are second after day one of the three-day Western State Conference Championships in San Luis Obispo Thursday. Austin Hammond led the way for the Pirates with a win in the 500 yard freestyle while a pair of relays took second to lead the way for the women.

Men's Swimming Brings Home First, Women in SecondApril 01, 2016The Ventura College men's and women's swimming teams traveled to Cuesta for the third Western State Conference meet of the season and found plenty of success. The Pirate men finished with the top point total while the women's team finished with the second highest point total on their side. Austin Hammond continued his strong season with three first place finishes.

Pirate Swimmers Show Well at WSC Swim #2March 19, 2016The Ventura College men's and women's swim team participated in the second Western State Conference swim meet of the season and showed well. Thomas Bunker was a first place finished in multiple events. James Heckman was first place finisher in a solo event and as part of a relay team. Cheyanne Irigoyen was a first place finisher as a solo racer and part of women's relay team.

Mens Swimming Claims First With Women's in SecondMarch 05, 2016In the first Western State Conference meet of the season the Ventura College men's and women's swimming teams produced strong performances. The men's team finished first out of the four teams participating with an overall score of 142, while the women's team was second among the five teams participating with a score of 101 just behind Santa Barbara.

Chris Sands Honored by CCCAAFebruary 22, 2016Pirate swimmer Chris Sands '15 has been named to the 2015 CCCAA Men's Scholar Athlete Honor Roll. This award, among the highest that the state bestows on student athletes, requires a student to "carry a minimum GPA of 3.5 and must also show outstanding leadership as an athlete, student, or in other college and community activities, as well as have participated in two seasons of sport at a California community college." During his two years at VC, Sands far exceeded these standards.
