Castillo Inks Soccer Scholarship With Eastern WashingtonMarch 08, 2019Ventura College sophomore forward Audrey Castillo has signed a national letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA. The 2018 Western State Conference Co-Player of the Year led the Pirates this past season with 22 goals and 11 assists, helping VC to a 10-7-5 overall record and to the program's 22nd CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs appearance. Ventura finished WSC North Division play at 8-1-1 and in second place.

Castillo, Coach Hoffman lead Women's Soccer All-WSC HonoreesDecember 06, 2018VC midfielder Audrey Castillo of the Pirates' women's soccer team was named the Western State Conference North Division Co-Player of the Year in voting by the conference coaches last month. The sophomore from Pacifica High School becomes the 11th Pirate in the storied 23-year history of the program to earn the top WSC North honor. Meanwhile, head coach Steve Hoffman was voted by his peers as the WSC-North Co-Coach of the Year for the 2018 season.

Pirate Soccer Ends Season in 1st Round of SoCal RegionalsNovember 17, 2018The Ventura College women's soccer team had its season come to an end with a 5-2 defeat at San Bernardino Valley College Saturday in the first round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs. Miranda Vasquez and Audrey Castillo scored goals for Ventura as the Pirates ended their season with a 10-7-5 record.

Pirate Soccer Headed to CCCAA SoCal PlayoffsNovember 13, 2018For the 22nd time in the past 23 years, the Ventura College women's soccer team has qualified for the post-season. VC (10-6-5) is seeded No. 12 in the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs and will travel to No. 5 San Bernardino Valley (18-1-2) on Saturday Nov. 17 for a 2:00 pm match.

Soccer Closes Regular Season With VictoryNovember 09, 2018The Pirate soccer team traveled to San Luis Obispo for its regular season finale Friday, coming home with a 6-0 victory over Cuesta College. Audrey Castillo netted three goals and Anna Escobar scored a pair to lead the way for Ventura (10-6-5, 8-1-1). Jasmin Ambriz had three assists in the game while Aracely Castro recorded three saves in the shutout win.

Ventura Defeats Moorpark on Sophomore Night at the SportsplexNovember 06, 2018The Pirates' women's soccer team was dominant Tuesday night, defeating visiting Moorpark 4-0 in VC's final regular season home game. Yadi Raigoza netted a pair of gaols with an assist to lead the way while Audrey Castillo found the net once and recorded one assist. During pre-game introductions, the Pirates' honored their sophomore players taking the pitch for the final time at the VC Sportsplex.

The Pirates proved to be up to the task, outplaying the conference leaders for much of the game before the Vaqueros salvaged the draw with a late score. Jasmin Ambriz scored two first half goals for Ventura (7-6-5, 5-1-1) as the Pirates ended SBCC's 15-game WSC North winning streak.

Castillo Nets Four Goals in Runaway WinOctober 23, 2018VC sophomore Audrey Castillo had been hot as of late, scoring nine goals in the Pirates' last seven matches. The Pacifica High School product took it to an entirely different level Tuesday night, netting four goals to lead Ventura to an 8-1 runaway victory over visiting Cuesta at the Sportsplex. With the win, VC (6-6-4, 4-1) evens its overall record on the season and solidifies its standing in second place after one round of Western State Conference play.

Mondragon's Hat Trick Leads VC Past MoorparkOctober 19, 2018Yamile Mondragon scored three goals and Audrey Castillo added a goal and two assists as the Ventura College women's soccer team made it four win in the past five outings with a 4-1 victory at Moorpark College Friday. The victory gave the Pirates (5-6-4, 3-1) a sweep of Ventura County schools during rivalry week as Ventura had defeated Oxnard on Wednesday.

Pirates Rout Condors for Program's 350th VictoryOctober 16, 2018Audrey Castillo had two goals and an assist and Jasmin Ambriz scored twice as the Pirates' women's soccer team captured the program's 350th all-time victory with a 5-0 triumph over visiting Oxnard Tuesday night at the Sportsplex. Yadi Raigoza also scored and Paulina Aldrete had a pair of assists in the win for Ventura (4-6-4, 2-1). The Pirates dominated play over the Condors from the start, controlling the ball and recording 35 shots, 16 on goal, during the match.

In the hard-fought contest, the Pirates (3-6-4, 1-1) had 12 shots with eight being on goal. Goalie Aracely Castro recorded three saves in goal for VC.

Ventura Races Past Hancock in WSC OpenerOctober 09, 2018The Pirates' women's soccer team wasted little time in deciding the outcome of their Western State Conference North Division opener Tuesday night at the Sportsplex. Paulina Aldrete scored a goal 31seconds into the game, beginning an avalanche of five goals in under seven minutes for VC as they rolled past Allan Hancock College 9-1. Aldrete, Jasmin Ambriz and Yamile Mondragon scored two goals each for the Pirates (3-5-4, 1-0) while Audrey Castillo and Ambriz each recorded a pair of assists in the game.

17-18 Pirate Soccer Named United Soccer Coaches Academic TeamOctober 06, 2018The 2017 Ventura College women's soccer team has been named a College Team Academic Award Winner for the 2017-18 academic year by the United Soccer Coaches, formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Pirates were one of 488 women's teams throughout the country that earned the Team Academic Award and this is the third such award earned by the program. VC was also honored in 2011 and 2014.

Women's Soccer Back in Victory Column With ShutoutSeptember 28, 2018It has been a difficult first month of the season for the Ventura College women's soccer team. After a promising season-opening victory on Aug. 28, the Pirates' struggled through growing pains, difficult opponents, and improvement cycles. The progress showed itself loud and clear on Friday as VC (2-5-4) defeated visiting Bakersfield 3-0 at the Sportsplex with Audrey Castillo netting the hat trick in the win.

Pirates Improving Effort Draws With Corsairs.September 25, 2018In a game that could have very easily gone south in a hurry, the VC women's soccer team held fast, got a little lucky, and picked up steam throughout their scoreless draw with Santa Monica Tuesday evening at the Sportsplex. Ventura goalie Aracely Castro recorded eight saves to keep Santa Monica without a goal. Meanwhile, the Pirate offense produced 11 shots in the game with six in the frame.

Despite having 23 shots in the game, 12 on goal, Ventura's lone score was by Paulina Aldrete in the 11th minute off the rebound of an Audrey Castillo corner kick. Goalie Aracely Castro had 2 saves for VC (1-4-3).

The Pirates (1-3-2) managed 12 shots with seven on goal, but could not find the back of the net. VC goalie Maya Escobar had three saves while Aracely Castro recorded two stops.

Pirate Soccer Ties Las Positas in program's 500th GameSeptember 06, 2018In its 23rd season, the Ventura College women's soccer team played its 500th game Thursday night in Livermore, a 2-2 draw at Las Positas College in the Las Positas Showcase. Audrey Castillo netted an unassisted score in the fifth minute and Sirena Romero also had an unassisted score for the Pirates (1-1-2). Goalie Aracely Castro had nine saves. and the VC offense managed nine shots, six on goal.
