For the third time in the past four years, the Pirates' volleyball team will be playing in the post-season. Ventura (12-12) earned the No. 18-seed in the 18-team Southern California Regional Playoffs and will travel to No. 15 Pasadena (17-9) on Saturday Nov. 18 for a 7:30 pm match against the Lancers. If Ventura can pull out the upset victory, they will travel to No. 1 Irvine Valley on Tuesday Nov. 21.
The Pirates and Lancers are familiar opponents. VC defeated Pasadena 25-23, 25-20, 25-21 at the VC Athletic Event Center on September 20. Since that time, the Pirates finished in a tie for third place in the Western State COnference North Division while PCC won the South Coast Conference North Division.
This will be the third post-season appearance in four years for fifth-year head coach Brad Lyans. Before his arrival at Ventura College, the Pirates' last playoff appearance was in 2007.
